Question 2000 Impreza 2.5RS, will the auto trans from a 2000 Forester swap?

I've searched, others have asked this, but I can't find the answer. It looks like the case is the same, the final drive might not be. 4.11 or 4.44, can't find a definitive answer. Anyone know?

It sounds like I've chipped a tooth in the front diff of my Impreza, not going to last long. Donor vehicle conveniently in town, I might be able to part that out and make this worth saving my Impreza. Maybe. Otherwise, another Impreza heads to the scrapyard.

My service manual says I have a final drive of 4.444. Rumors are the Forester is the same.

is your current vehicle an auto or manual? manual has 4.11, auto has 4.44. you're also better off getting this moved over to the transmission forum.
