If you're doing the trip A-trip B thing, I can confirm that the tripometer resets itself at 10k km.

In all honesty, the mpg at 10k should be pretty close to lifetime mpg I would think

Sadly, when the tripometer reaches 10k km, it resets the tripometer to 0. You'd need to catch it before it rolls over.

My test of 93 octane is a bust. Butt dyno actually felt like a loss of power. 27.6 mpg isn't bad for my normal commute but 93 is not worth the cost. Switched back to 89 this tank.

You answered your own question.

You avg higher mph (and mpg) by driving more highway miles.

I drive more highway miles at 60 mph so my avg speed is higher.

There still must be some variation from car to car. I drive 95% highway miles 60-65mph, but only average 33mpg at best in the summer.

90% of your miles may have been at highway speed, but average speed is based on total miles over total time. Idling in place doesn't cover any distance but it will lower your average speed.

Lol if it makes you feel any better, hand calcs usually result in 2mpg less.
I do drive mostly rural highways, so speed limits are 50-55. Ill go about 55-58, long cruises to distant stop lights, not to mention 90 min trips each way to work means less warm ups.

Just went outside to check, avg speed over the 9k: 38mph

The key in the ON position with the engine off also lowers the average mph. I found that out the other weekend.

When just driving around town I'm lucky to break 23, but I know on the highway I can break 42, so I'm happy. If I wanted 42 in town, I'd have bought a nice little hybrid or EV something.

The best I've gotten on the freeway is 32mpg at 65mph. What speeds are you driving to get 42mpg?

You should be getting way better then 32mpg at 65. I am getting 32 at 75-80, problem is city driving for me.

In the Pittsburgh area, we have lots of hills. Lots. All sorts of steep angles, which destroys the CVT mileage. So city mpg is terrible. But if you're all highway, it just coasts.

To answer your question though, about 55-60. PA speed limits suck. The key to good mileage on these is to not over-drive it. Just let it scoot around with your foot out of it.
