The vdc button in that pic. We have the same squares in our car, so it looks like it should fit in our cars

Are you talking about the button with the car and skid marks? If so, that same button is in the Impreza, so you should be able to order it.

Here are the stability control and VDC switches for the Impreza. Scroll 3/4 of the way down, or simply search the page for VDC and you'll see them:

yes, but I only want it if it is the rectangular one pictured, and only if it is a toggle switch (on/off). ours is momentary so that is no good for cutting power to the fuse.

You should report back and/or possibly blog about what was involved. I might find this really useful as I will be in a mighty snowy environment.

Just so I got this straight, when you pull the 7.5amp fuse in the vertical block next to the fuse panel by the steering column, its supposed to "disable" the VDC( stability control bs)? Cuz I just tried that along with the traction control button and nothing chaned, I have a 2013 5spd sport up here in Canada. SO what the heck is going on? lol

I hate these new vehicles and all there computer crap, takes the driver out of it.

ok, so I tried that now and i'm now in love with the car a little bit more. I just need to get used to these useless slippery all seasons and driving will be fun again.

I'm not gonna say that im hugely against the stability control (all though I do hate it a lot, but that's just my driving style) but I really do think it needs to be less sensitive. like for instance my brother has a 2012 awd lancer and with the "traction control" button on it slides out a fair bit before is shoots back straight, but when you turn it off it goes almost straight sideways before it cuts in. I really don't think SOA thought about places that get snow and ice for winter. It California it might be fine and dandy but where I live having that crazy "nanny" driver really drives me crazy... well that's my rant for the day.

Ok so when you get stuck in some snow out the fuse back in and the traction control will get you unstuck. The traction control works in offroad situations.

Thank you guys so much for all the info. I bought my car last november and was so disheartened when i couldnt disable the VDC. I bought the car for all the same reasons, cheap, reliable, good milage, nice to drive, ect. Was always happy with it but now im in love! P.S. . Ive been lurking for a long time... Mine is a 2012 5speed sedan. All Ive done is the sport grill, color matched the fog light bezels, tinted the taillights, done the big stereo, And built an axel back pipe, but Reading this site i have alot more plans. Would also like to see what you guys build as far as a VDC switch, i want something clean and factory looking and so on. Thanks again!

How much fun does VDC cut down on a 5 speed and CVT tranny?

I wired a switch using an inline fuse wire and just tucked in behind the fuse door. Its hidden until you open the fuse door and you can flip the switch and close the door.

Pulling the VDC fuse makes this car almost perfect and a blast to drive in M/T form. I hope we find a way to retain abs braking and/or cruise control with the fuse out.

Oh and swap the hand brake mechanism with an archaic cable style brake for maximum sideways driving enjoyment.

For the CVT cars, do you have to press the shift release button thingy with a screwdriver to shift into drive every time while the VDC fuses are pulled? And do you pull both fuses (the one inside and the one underhood or just inside)? If you don't have to bypass the shift lock, I may just leave the car this way. Would running it this way for the duration of winter cause any issues?

Ok, read through all the pages. Sounds like you only want to remove the cabin fuse, and absolutely not the under hoodone.

So my question then, remove the fuse, press the t/c button and you're good to go, CVT included?

Then just turn the car off, reinstall, and restart will take it back to normal?

And do you need to press the shift lock button on the console to move it to park when doing this in a CVT?

Remove fuse (or power to it with a switch), hold the brake, idiot lights turn on, good to go!

To reset put fuse back and restart car.

Nice! Next big snow I'll try this. And this basically only disables ABS and fully-disables the VSC but leaves the power steering, etc?

Anyone able to chime in on the shift lock release doing this with the CVT?

Lastly, has anyone tried driving around full time in normal conditions and having the dash VSC button pressed? I tried last night for the hell of it, and the car felt different. A little more nimble. Less hesitant. More fun. And downshifted a little snappier. Overall, it seemed to drive how the CVT should all the time. Maybe I'm thinking things and the car was just running really well last night?? Anyone else try this? lol

I think the factory traction control button only turns on a light and doesn't do anything really
