There are so many subarus in WA, if I waved at every one my arm would fall off.

I own an FRS and when someone throws deuces at me regardless of make I always respond back. Not all of the FRS/BRZ guys are douches. Granted you have those who think they are better just cause they have it.

There is one black brz that I see around the Rainer gate in the afternoons that I deuce. They throw it back but they are the only ones I've noticed....

Definitely don't get the love in a stock 2.0 subie either, the wrxs and stis just don't see me I'm pretty sure haha. Plus it seems like everyone including me has tinted windows which makes it harder to spot.

Yup.. Tinted windows. I try to keep my windows down. I also look at the driver first, If there's eye contact, then deuce it up. If not, just keep driving.

There's probably about 8 subies (Tribeca, BRZ, Fozzy, XV, Outbacks) at work and I know for a fact that those people won't deuce anyone and they will look at you weird

I have read thru the thread playing catch up and noticed several people mentioning that true Subaru people own imprezas. I have my 05 wrx for 3 years and now I am driving the brz and still the same Subaru fan I have always been. Also the comment about frs/brz owners being douches are wrong. I am actually quite friendly compared to all the Honda kids in the area that act all hard lol

I wave constantly. Some of you can poo poo it all you want, but it's exciting to see someone else obviously involved in the community.

There's an added benefit to me as well. I'm an extremely aggressive driver, but ever since owning a WRX in '11 and an STI now, I find myself keeping in check whenever I see another Subaru of ANY kind, because I don't want backlash on these boards. I'm not talking about ducking in between traffic like a lunatic or going 90 on the freeway...but I'm very generous in the left lane and I don't think twice about passing (legally) when someone decides they'll make sure I go 35 in a 45. But again, being in a community has really started to help me "chill out" to an extent, and my wife and I look forward to going to some meets in the near future.

TL;DR - I enjoy waving, wave back!

I think you may read too much into it dude. Some people are enthusiasts while others are not. I have an RSTI and i barely get deuces and it does not bother me.

It has nothing to do with it being a brz. If you buy a car and feel you deserve or need other peoples attention for what you own, then you've bought the wrong car.

I almost never get waves from the turbo guys. Maybe you guys didn't know Subaru made an orange crossover.

Last week an old beat up GL all stock with a basket up top and good ole American family inside drove by on highway checking out my right. I peaced them and smiles and they all got huge smiles and waved back! Haha.

One word; Community.

Its why nearly every GD WRX/STI driver will get the wave/wave-back. I have about a 30% success rate with GR's, half the time I wont bother. Likelihood of an enthusiast owning a GR is much less than a GD.

A BRZ is no more a part of the community than a Forester XT. I dont wave at WRX's in my Forester. I would be confused if one waved at me.

I wave at others all the time, I don't always get a wave back. I also hear my wife/other passengers tell me that someone was trying to wave and I was spacing out and missed it. doesn't bother me at all, I think some folks read too deeply into it.

this isn't exclusive to subarus either. I'm a car enthusiast, not just a subaru enthusiast. I give thumbs up to all sorts of makes and models that I like. I particularly like the WTF looks I get from classic cars / domestic cars, or evo owners.. ha

the supposed GR divide is silly. I see this same sort of assumed divide in every car community I've been a part of, though. you can assume things about folks due to the model year of their car if you'd like. I prefer to reserve judgment until I've personally interacted with someone, instead of if they noticed or waved at me while we're driving around focusing on other things.

You think you're bad in a BRZ? Try waving in my GC.

I get weird looks with a side of vomit.

Let's trade.

i stopped waving to subaru owners when i realized there is about as much correlation of 'subaru owners' to 's**t in common with yall' as there is correlation of 'lbs of hobo feces in the alleyway closest to your house' to 'how high your girlfriend's heels are on a saturday night'

The answer is four inch heels, one-half pound, NOTHING AT ALL and I don't wave at subarus anymore.

It's not disrespect; You're just not special.

I'm not special.

None of this is special.

You bought a subaru. Like thousands upon thousands of other people. You're not any better than anyone else. Get over it. Stop writing multiple page threads about it.

People are supposed to love each other because we own the same kind of car?

I just flip everyone off. I hate everyone the same.

When in doubt, pull the bird out.

I think that is a ridiculous statement. GD's are getting old, people buy new cars. WRX/STi's are an enthusiast car to begin with. Who the hell else would spend this much money on one of these things! Most of the "enthusiast" older WRX's I see are totally ratted out with some flat brim skate punk kid driving it. My first concern if they're headed my way is "do they have insurance" not should I wave at them.

Having said that, I do throw it up if I see one, but I seem to be the one initiating it. Haven't had anyone "deuce" me first.
