Default Facebook VS NASIOC

It seems the participation in the NWIC has decreased recently. There are many Subaru groups on Facebook now. On one hand many of the pain in the ass kids have gone directly to Facebook and don't even know what NASIOC is. The other hand is we don't have as many new members as we once did. Does anybody have any thoughts on the subject?

In my opinion if you're not part if the clique that is the nwic then you will not like nasioc. It seems there is a select few users that i see more than others that leave me thinking less than highly of then general atmosphere. And quite frankly, the majority of these users I am referencing are not the new guys.

Thay being said. The classifieds are very useful.

Most of the Nasioc regulars are tards. Take a look in general at some point and you will see what I mean. Classifieds are pretty much the only reason I made an account here again.

Seriously I think a few of the regular guys in general just pick fights for fun. Its even worse because a few of them are mods. Nasioc is interesting in that respect, very different than any other car forum I frequent.

I've only been apart of this forum for less than a year but I come here few times a day to check up on postings. Trying to learn everything I can. Whenever I post here in NWIC I seem to get some good people to post back with some good info. I hate to say it but I'm almost afraid to post in General because it looks like most the people in there just like to make others look dumb (and I'm not the smartest car guy around). I don't need that help to look dumb. And yeah, most of the jerks do seem to be moderators and/or admins. It's pathetic.

Im with him ^^^^^

Ive been to a few NWIC and felt welcome and enjoyed myself. Now im not new to forums or to cars and gtg's. Just new to this site.
But, 99% of the **** I see on this forum appears to be trash. People post, asking stupid questions and it seems like a race for someone to hate on them for it.

As for facebook, I am part of a few "groups" on there and they are all full of retards and idiots. ITs terrifying.

I'm going to quote a good friend here,

"This generation is f***ed."

I hate to say it, but I agree with just about everything said here. Our regular meet isn't on here or a special Facebook page, we just message and text one another. Best part is our meets have strippers.

Don't they publish the meet schedule in the AARP newsletter?

It might seem bad, most cars will change hands and anyone wanting to post on facebook is better off not on NASIOC as far as I'm concerned. The traffic is decent, if you take a look at RS25.com the traffic is gone and most of the great members who had anything to say are gone. Literally 200 posts a day or so. NASIOC is is no where near gone or degrading, but all the new members suck a big ole dick.

NASIOC has always been a reliable source to get out important information. Whether it be classifieds or benefits to help the less fortunate. Yes I'm sure some people enjoy putting people down, maybe it stems from insecurity. Or some might be over sensitive. The thing that matters at the end of the day is we all are car enthusiasts who enjoy driving a Subaru.
Remember to help your community anyway you can.
Happy Friday folks.

I like the classifieds, I like some of the posts, and I like some of the people. I don't think nasioc is a very healthy car community myself - it's very cliquey, not very welcoming and there are a lot of trolls. poor noobs with thin skin don't stand a chance around here. I think a lot of new people are driven away from posting something stupid and having the trolls rip them apart. I understand both sides of it though, you can only help new people and answer the same question so many times before you get tired of it, and a lot of new folks seem to be too lazy and unmotivated to help themselves first before reaching out.

as with any car community that has been around for a long time, there's a huge age / generation gap. this doesn't have to be a problem, but people seem pretty close minded towards one another. it's unfortunate. I've seen other car communities handle it a lot better / are much more tight knit and welcoming.

I think there is just too many people with thin skin nowadays. I'm not in anyone's clique on here, don't go to any meets, and don't really post a whole lot (unless I know what I'm talking about). Most new people on here don't look up a single thing. First post, "zomg, my car is running weird, what's wrong?" I don't use Facebook really so I can't compare. But that's why everyone is so quick to get on the hate bandwagon. I can see why the regulars get so pissed.

The thing that's starting to get me bummed on this place is the amount of misinformation being flung around. Then when you try to search something, you have to sift through pages and pages of BS. Not to mention that it seems 60% of the threads get closed immediately and just say "search".

Maybe the whole facebook thing is taking off because you can put a face to a name to a car. Where here its hard unless you are in with in crowd. Or know somebody who knows somebody.

There's a few of us who have been around here a long time. Member # says some, but I didn't actually register here until I owned an Impreza, even though I'd owned lots of Subarus before the interweb got invented by Al Gore.
