SMCgill > footy, and much faster.

Wish I had RFM, but I have some other secret sites for racing that work pretty well until I can find a benefactor.

Don't want to spoil it, but since it's already been announced during qualy, congrats to Alexander Rossi for his GP2 win!

Abu Dhabi GP3: Toro Rosso-bound Daniil Kvyat clinches title with win

Future Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat proved his graduation was richly deserved by sealing the 2013 GP3 title in the first Abu Dhabi race.

Racing under the lights, a first for GP3, MW Arden racer Kvyat led from start to finish from pole position to record a dominant 4.6-second victory over Carlin duo Alexander Sims and Nick Yelloly.

With erstwhile points leader Facu Regalia coming home seventh on the road, Kvyat had already done enough to be crowned champion before Regalia was dumped to 16th for ignoring yellow flags and exceeding track limits after a wild drive.

Conor Daly pulled off a fine move on Patric Niederhauser at Turn 2 on lap five to grab fourth, and chased Yelloly to the finish line.

Niederhauser failed to finish after a clash with Carlos Sainz Jr on the curving straight towards Turn 11 broke his steering and sent Sainz into a wild spin.

Jack Harvey finished fifth, ahead of series debutant Dean Stoneman, Tio Ellinas, Patrick Kujala, the recovering Sainz and Dino Zamparelli.

If you don't mind it being in Russian, Kaban does direct streaming. No registration needed and it's reliable too.

Investors Quantum Motorsports tell Lotus F1 team to sign Hulkenberg
By Jonathan Noble Monday, November 4th 2013, 09:27 GMT

Lotus boss Eric Boullier has been told by the team's new investors to sign off a 2014 deal with Nico Hulkenberg.

After months of uncertainty about the status of a partnership with Quantum Motorsports, the man behind the consortium that is buying a 35 per cent stake in the team from Genii Capital revealed at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that the deal was now done.

And, as a priority, he is urging Boullier to finalise a contract that will bring in Hulkenberg as replacement for the outgoing Kimi Raikkonen.

"We as incoming owners and shareholders have made it very clear what our preference is," said Quantum chief Mansoor Ijaz when asked by AUTOSPORT about next year's driver situation.

"I wish the transition had been smoother between Kimi and the next driver, who we believe will be Nico Hulkenberg, but sometimes in life things don't happen so clearly and as nicely as you would like them to."

When asked about the time frame for sorting out a Hulkenberg contract, Ijaz added: "That part is not for me to comment on.

"I can tell you the contract was prepared and ready to go.

"I know Nico is excited about doing this and I think it is a matter of a very short period before that is all finalised."

He added that Hulkenberg is a prospect with an exciting future.

"Nico is a man well within himself," he said. "He is an up-and-coming driver; he has fairly long [career] life span ahead of him.

"In every sport the athlete has a fixed life span and if he has five or seven years left in him, that is enough for him to rise the very top of the pack with a good car, good technology and a strong team behind him."

If I were Nico I would stay away unless they figured out their funding. Not paying your driver for the entire season is not OK.

F1 fanatic had something on the Quantum deal being done. Hulk doesnt need 10 or 15 mils, he needs to get a podium, and win some races.

While the money situation is troubling for the development of the car (could also be why they lost James Allison, which is even more cause to worry for the team), Nico has to get out of these mid grid teams. Pastor looks like crap lately, burning out his tires in what, 4 or 5 laps yesterday? Lotus could take him for the payday, and will regret every minute of it.

Congrats to Kyvat, lets see what he can do to JEV.

News Hulkenberg & Lotus

This is an excerpt (with emphasis added) from another story also by Jonathan Noble published by Autosport on Monday:
Quote:
With Quantum's owners claiming that its deal with Lotus is now done - even though that has yet to be officially confirmed by the team – Hulkenberg says that he is prepared to delay making a final decision.
"I am going to set it back a bit," speaking about the timeframe for his decision
As of Wednesday night, there is still no announcement nor sign that Genii has been able to make Lotus fiscally healthy. Mansoor Ijaz has an established history of making promises he can't keep. It's yet to be seen if Quantum Motorsports is a real and viable entity.

Regarding Hulkenberg, he may only want to do a 1 year deal with Lotus. I'd suspect that top-tier teams are also talking to him about a future seat, perhaps Ferrari for a 2015 or 2016 seat for example. If Lotus ends up on skid-row and takes Maldonado for his PDVSA budget, then Hulkenberg could be looking at offers on his desk from Sauber (which has been faster recently), or his former team, Force India.

Lately there was a statement from Domenicali. He has said, simplified, that Hülkenberg will never race a Ferrari. I guess there was more than we know about the first denial from Ferrari earlier this year, and Hülkenbergs reaction.

Source?

Bernie saying "he doesn't think" they pull through? As he always does to pressure organizers?
