Default Front 05-07 STi Inserts in WRX 02-07 WRX Housing?

Anyone know if you can remove the front strut inserts from an 05-07 STi and move it to an 02-07 WRX housing and help solve the issue of the 05-7 STi strut bracket not fitting over the smaller WRX knuckle?

I tried searching but just could not find a direct answer.

No. The STI struts are inverted monotubes - the bit that bolts into the top hat is 39mm where it slides into the strut body, and the bottom of the strut only has some bronze bushings and grease. The WRX strut is non-inverted twin tube - the shaft that bolts into the top hat is something like 20mm diameter, and all the internals are in the strut body. They're completely different.

I have tried this and almost had it working. I opted for koni's instead though.

To bolt 05 sti struts into a 5x100 setup, you need to slot one of the mounting holes, and add in a spacer like hardened washers or a metal plate. Its been done here and posted about.
