Default WTT: HKS HIPower

Currently looking to trade my HKS HiPower for something a bit quieter. Preferably the COBB cat back; I can add cash on too.

Located in SF

Thumbs up my two cents

My two cents since I have to make 3 posts before creating my own thread!

I recently acquired a HKS Hi-Power Carbon-Ti catback off of craigslist. I have a COBB catback installed with a COBB catted bellmouth downpipe and to be honest, I swapped between the two 4 times to make a decision on which was quieter! The COBB has a much deeper louder bass tone and the HKS had slightly less bass and a little more mid-pitch rasp. The HKS sounds quieter from a distance both coming towards and going past me while I was standing on the side of the street listening to it. The COBB is quieter when it's passing right next to me but louder bass from a distance. Enough to put chills down my back.

I think the COBB is overall, a much better exhaust, fitment is the best I've ever seen but do know - it's still LOUD!! The COBB will not rub or hit anything if you're lowered. I'm on TEIN Street Advance coilovers as low as they will go while still providing preload on the springs and the HKS was barely 2" off the ground at the lowest point. The two are very comparable from inside the car. I almost can't tell the difference between the two at all except on the freeway where the HKS had a little bit of a different sounding rhythm. The actual volume was about the same. Audible but no drone from either.

Some back information: The car is tuned on a 2.5 EQ Tuning map from Ed. The TD04, exhaust manifold and TGVs all port & polished with an EQ Tuning crosspipe & COBB catless up pipe so with those factors taken in account, the exhaust is louder than other cars already. I can even hear the turbo whirrl with the COBB exhaust when the car is driving away from me under deceleration. With the COBB turbo-back exhaust with out the intake mods/pnp ex. mani it was loads quieter and almost comparable sound to the STi stock catback bolted to a Helix catless DP except WAAAY less restrictive on the flow to a noticeable degree. I've tried like 7 different exhaust variations so far the COBB is the best by far

So no I'm not interested in a trade but I love my COBB system and I congratulate you in advance for getting one
