Default Why is it ?

Why is it that answering a simple question that has been asked before is considered hard work and a waste of time, but jamming people for asking these questions isn't, and there is always time for that ?

Wouldn't it be easier to just avoid the threads that you don't want to answer, and leave them to the people who are willing to answer the questions ? Wouldn't a simple, ''DO a search.'', do ?

If you are a moderator, please feel free to elaborate on why slamming is permitted. If you are a jammer, please fee free to explain why you think slamming is the way to post.

If you do not like jamming people, feel free to express that also. My personal feeling is that rudeness is dividing this community, and taking up way too much bandwidth. I also feel that this topic is of general interest to the community.

I expect that this is the only thread I am ever going to make on this topic, and I would really like to know how everyone feels about this. I have PTSD, which of course means that in real life I can be a violent nut job if I don't keep it under control. Being polite, or at least civil, isn't an option for me as much as it is a habit I practice. Going off on people who really don't deserve it isn't an option to me.

If you wonder why I am an advocate for civil discourse, that is why. I am a big proponent of not saying something that you wouldn't say to someone in person. And You ?

You sound like a nut job. Ignore those things that bother you and focus on the good.

This is Daniel's wife. Here is my solution. If you have been answering the same question over and over, SAVE your answer in a Word file that is saved to your desktop. Call it Blurbs. From the desktop you can quickly open the blurb file, open the answer, cut and paste the answer. Should take two minutes tops. It's the kind and considerate thing to do.

I'd be forced to say that 80% of the "jams" are hilarious rhetoric. The other 20% are true help or answers. Why people do this, is based purely on the fact that the won't have to answer face to face to the person if they offended them. That is the difference between real encounters and the internetz.

Most of the one liner, funny talk is all in jest, and usually means no harm. Occasionally the author gets his or her panties in a knot and ridicules a newcomer beyond belief. Then it becomes a big deal. But for the majority of trash talking, it's an attention thing.

Or the re-hashing of subjects that could've been answered had the original poster taken hours out of his or her day and searched through a plethora of threads on said subject. But who wants to do that? Research? Bah! They don't have a long enough attention span to research! This being the view of the "veterans".

I am a member of many forums, some for years and others just for researching my own interests and I've noticed one thing about NASIOC, and that is...nobody likes to repeat themselves here. I can't blame them.

As for being a nut job, welcome to the family.

I will chime in as a person who kind of agrees. I like to troll if I can just for the sake of trying to get a laugh but I also do my best to answer a question if it is something a person may not find to be "common sense". I will also only answer on a topic I have personally dealt with or have researched myself.

I do this because not everyone has a back round in mechanics or grew up loving cars in general. 9 times out of 10 a person may not know what to search to track down that thread that has been posted.

So in conclusion depending on how common sense a question may be you may get a true answer from me but I will also try to make people laugh with my post. Good example was yesterday someone asked how to clean the seats in their 02 wrx, I mean really? If that isn't the most common sense thing ever asked I don't know what is.

How about you do your own work. It's not our job to keep informing every new owner every time they ask a question that's been asked a million times. Do your own due diligence.

As for why we make fun of you, well, because it's fun.
