Default 02 WRX, CEL after removing rear O2 sensor, problems?

So I have an 02 WRX, and it now has catless up and down pipes. When I changed the down pipe, I did not put the O2 sensor back in. I do have a CEL, which is no huge surprise, and the car is running fine, if just a little rich. Still getting around 18-22 mpg, which isn't any different from before. From what I understand, this is is okay and the rear O2 is just for emissions / fuel efficiency, but I just wanted to make sure. Is it okay to run without the rear O2 sensor and just ignore that CEL? Or will I cause problems by leaving that out? Should I bother with the mechanical fix, or just wait until I get a tune in a month or two?

Why the hell would you not reinstall the damn thing?

Can you do without it? Yes, but only for the 02/03 models. Does that mean you should? No. Will a basic tune get rid of your issue? Yes.

Next time, do some damn research man.
