Solution would have been to join the NRA

Did you play with the timed target functions? It rotates edge to face so you only see the target for a preset time. NRA is one of the few ranges that let you draw from a holster, so I usually set a 2-3 second timer with 3 cycles. A lot more fun than just standing and shooting static paper targets.

Let me know if anyone ever wants to go there and plink around sometime!
I am a member there and definitely like the facility.

No we only got there around 8:55. Just wanted to punch some paper, nor do I have a holster etc. as I'm not carrying or doing any training at this moment (nor do I have a gun I want to take a course with).

I almost went to the NRA hq range on Thursday night! Got a screaming headache though, so I figured a shooting range wasn't the best place to get over it...

STI isn't stainless and I can't stand the huge logo on the slide. I'm thinking Smith Pro 9mm. All Smith 1911 models are on the roster.

The Spartans are Armscor(Philippines) frame, slide, and barrel. Not bad quality, but I feel like you pay a lot more than it is worth for the STI logo.

The only American produced forged frames I could find from basic searching were: Smith, Ed Brown, Dan Wesson. Dan Wesson is using an Ed Brown frame from what I heard. No idea on Kimber, but what I dug up suggested their frames were also imported. Springfield isn't using their own forging and Smith stopped supplying frames to other manufacturers with their redesigned 1911 frame.

Again, that's all stuff I've read/heard on the internet.

I have petitioned the Maryland Handgun Roster Board to add a caliber to a gun they've already approved. Let's see how this goes!

Very nice! I am also in the market for a handgun and narrowed it to either the XD 9mm, Glock 17 or Glock 19.

Buy the 19 first. You won't love it, you'll just find it does everything well. You could buy any of those and not lose mcuh money if you change your mind and sell.

Have you seen the GSSF discount program? They are pretty slow at processing but you get near LE pricing on 1 Glock per year.

I have always been a fan,of the 1911. I picked up an officers RIA .45 and loved that dam thing it's just a,bit, heavy. Never really wanted a glock but I picked one up for a deal. I'm nit sure about the full size tho

Yea 1911s are just so nice! And I have no idea why it said g24. I have a g23. The compact 40. A lot of people don't like the 40 as a caliber but it's probably my favorite.
