Anyone ever consider doing the Alcan 5000? Thinking of doing it one of these upcoming years once I can scrounge up an extra $3000 and a co-driver. Looks like a blast and a beautiful trip!

Getagrip has done it numerous times, once or twice as private entry, and once as a Subaru Team Driver. From what I recall he said it was a blast doing it.

$3000 entry? Are you paying your own fuel? I would save the entry fee and just drive with some friends. The only sections I haven't driven are 6, 10, and 11.

Yeah about 2900 per car and 2 drivers in that vehicle. Includes accommodations and banquets. I think it would be cool to have AKIC or another local car group to host a rally from anchorage up to deadhorse and back. I'm sure it's be pretty easy to build up interest.

They usually start or end the Alcan 5000 at or near Seattle. Sounds like a fun drive though. Vancouver and whistler would be another cool place to drive to and visit

Ya it will be fun. I'm debating upgrading my lights. They're good but I'd rather them be GREAT just to be sure.

Anyone work at northrim? Just applied for the systems administrator position there, much needed I must add... the self employed IT consultant gig has just not been making ends meet since my last full time contracting position expired (gracefully, of course).

Its weird seeing my car that was totaled 4 months ago, fixed and back for sale. Especially since it still has a few of my personal touches.

Rule of thumb, 2 car garage is really a 1 car and a 3 car is s 2 car and so on and so forth.
