The fact that this car has such extreme reverse rake blows my mind.

what I really want to know is do i need another alignment after? I know the camber will change a little, but I don't think the TOE will as everything should just rotate downward about 3/8" and no changes laterally.

had about 200lbs of crap in the back yesterday as was getting flashed constantly because my headlights were pointed so freaking high.

Toe will ALWAYS change with ride height, regardless of suspension design, solid axle, McPherson strut, double wishbone, etc etc. may not be drastic, BUT with all the places that offer free alignment checks, if you're permanently altering the ride height, it's definitely worth getting it checked.

lol, free alignment checks. they don't exist in my part of the world. the cheapest place i can even have it checked is the dealer at 69.00, but at that price they will do the alignment i will probably have it checked

Are there any Goodyear corporate owned stores anywhere near you? They do free alignment checks!

I don't see how you can reuse the factory studs, as some of the sellers state (i'm going to make my own), there is about 3/16" of stud through the current nut, I bought some m10x1.50x35mm today, and I hope they are long enough. I also bought new nuts as I couldn't find anything in m10x1.25 locally.

tomorrow I will be dropping the struts and making a pattern so I can cut my spacers out of my HDPE sheet I bought. with the nuts/bolts I bought today, total cost of this project should be about 22.00

currently my back end measures 6 5/8" off the ground, the front measures 6 7/8", both measured at bottom of rocker panel cover. after I'm done the back should measure 7" even and the front the same 6 7/8"

after this is done I will probably check my headlight aim as currently they are pointed up (makes sense as the car is permanently squatting).
Cool! You gonna take before and after pics?

Not according to the goodyear website. The dealer I like did an awesome job on my warranty alignment and their price at 69.00 is about 30 less then average for this area I'm ok going back there. But it would be nice to just have it checked out first to see if anything even changed (I'm guessing camber will, and only camber)

I might be able to find a before pic, but I'm not going to take one as it is already in my garage up on Jack stands. For sure I will take an after pic (I want to show off my winter rims!)

I might even stack my spacers and go 3/4" in the back, but that does seem like a bit of overkill as most of the time I'm the only person in the car other than vacations or grocery shopping.

Sounds good. This is something I'm interested in doing, because I travel most of the time with close to a hundred pounds of tools for work, so I'm always sagging. If it straightens out the negative camber too, that's a plus in my books. Looking forward to your results!

Well I can tell you they may not advertise it but I assure you they do...but it MUST be a company owned store. I would be very surprised if your toe does not change at all. It may be slight and not enough to adjust, but it will change!

The website says there are no corporate stores, there is a store with goodyear in the name, but it also has someone else's name with it

I'm going to do 3/4" in the back so I will do it anyway, it will be enough change I think it will be required

I got the spacers installed. I ended up stacking my 3/8" so i could get 3/4" lift. if it werent for the tiny bit of slop in the factory holes in the top plates, i would have had the 2nd one done in under 30 minutes, instead i fought with it for 45 before taking it back out and realizing that the bolts were at the furthest possible positioning making them not fit back into the mounting holes, ARGH!

even with the cutting/ R&D to make my own spacers and chasing my 2yr old around, i still was done with everything in 4 hours start to finish. if it weren't for the kid and making my own spacers this project would probably take under 2 hours.

i should actually have about 1/2" lift in the back now (1/4 was just getting back to level). I decided i haul enough stuff that the extra 1/2" wouldn't hurt and I'm guessing it won't be noticeable either. definitely will need to reaim my headlights and get an alignment. I can't probably even drop my RA's back down to the mounting holes they should be in

pics later, it is dark out now

Would you say that the car sits more level now, or is it front raked? I mostly want to eliminate the reverse rake and even it out.. A little drop would then further bring it out nicely.. But this reverse rake is just dumb.

Has anyone fit 225/45-17 tires on the Sport model wheels without clearance issues?

Overall diameter is 25", .1 smaller than the 205/50-17, but section width is 8.9" vs 8.3".

Just want to make sure before ordering tires for the wife's car

All I can say is I have ran 225/45's on a set of 17x7.5's on this car with no issues. Reverend and a few others have ran 08+ WRX wheels that are 17x8 and I believe those are fitted with 225/45's. Also no issues to my knowledge. I'd say you'd be fine. I can say though too, I ran 215/45's on my FRS/BRZ wheels and they're wayyy too thin for the stock ride height. It looked silly. Those were also tires without too much size to them. I have 215/45 snow tires on those wheels now and it looks much better. Whatever you do, don't go too thin on the sidewall if it's not a "beefy" tire. It'll look plain silly.

Just want wider tread for tire life, don't want to replace the wheels for cost.

225/45 are the same or cheaper than the 205/50, i know gas milage will decrease a bit but i need tires to last 40K+ miles. The Yokos are at 3/32 with only 20K on them.

it looks level, but in reality the front is currently at 7 1/16" and the rear is at 7 5/16". it definitly feels different inside, my headlights are much better too!

originally i was at 6 7/8" front, 6 5/8" rear (normal wheels) now I have my winter wheels installed so an extra about 3/16" taller

Yes, whatever you do, get rid of those horrendous stock Yoko's.

And FlyBoy, thanks for the info! That sound pretty decent. Looking forward to pics.

Tire width has nothing to do with tire wear. Stock tires never last long, they are specially made for the car manufacturers and have lower tread wear ratings than the same tire that you can buy at retail. I think the stock yokos are rated 300, so look for tires that are rated double that to get some that last 40k+.

Here's tires in the size you want with the highest tread wear ratings (UTQG) first.

Looks good from that angle! Did it take out the negative camber? And what color are those wheels?!

it appears to have removed some of the camber on the rears. i will get a back shot and a pic of the tape measure.

color is Chameleon Green-Blue-Purple, only thing i don't like about it is I let it get too cold when it was curing so the clear got brittle
