Some recent shots from two shoots I did for some Subaru friends. The last pic made it on the FB page Subie Stance, which is pretty cool and got to a few instagram pages as well. It's always cool to see people enjoying your work no matter how big (or small) the viewership might be. Anyways, I would love all and any critiques you have on these photos.

Also, Ill be upgrading to a 5d mk ii (along with new lenses) in the near future, so if anyone has any thoughts on that, that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks!

First thing that went through my head was: "Please tell me that thing is on bags." You got at least one of their phone numbers, right

Flash Gun was strapped to the underside of my garage door, used a trigger on my camera and of course used a tripod lol

just picked up a new camera, switched from my nikon and now have a 60D. getting used to is slowly.

tried to take pictures under a bridge, this proved harder than i thought, was going for the car coming out of the darkness feel but failed on a massive level.

any tips on this? or should i avoid unless the background is also dark?

then i moved it into the sunlight, i now realized i should have had the car pointed the other direction and avoided that shadow

here i tried to go for a retro type shot, but lacking a CP filter it was pretty hard, i now have a CP so i'll try this spot again.

and i really like this one, so any opinions welcomed.

Ivan, your BRZ still makes me want to get one.

Got back behind the lens myself!

I'm losing the lower trim and some of the black, but the beach was bright as hell and it's a white car so not a lot of options. Still need a CP.

In most cases, the basics from the very first page are all that needed to be looked at.

Also, it's quite difficult for someone to look at page after page of photos and answer all these repetitive questions. I think if people posted one of their best photos of a set and asked for legitimate help, it may be a bit easier.

I think he tried to keep it to a maximum of 3 but we see how well that worked.

trying to get good at this up close, i think the tree here gives it a nice little taste, any editing pointers though? usually i mess with exposure, brightness, WB, blackpoints and then maybe vignette slightly...pretty newbish to editing though, what do you guys usually do in your work flows?

With Lightroom, I normally go through a variation of this workflow:

- Crop/straighten (If needed)
- Correct the white balance (If needed)
- Lens correction
- Exposure
- Shadows/Highlights
- White/black points
- Clarity
- Some light curves work
- Sharpening/noise reduction

Most of the time these are subtle adjustments. If an image needs serious work (Distracting elements, etc) I'll do all of the above and then finish up in Photoshop.

If you're using Lightroom, Scott Kelby has a really good book that I'd recommend you pick it. It helped me get from "playing around" to a workflow that, well, worked.

I have Lightroom 4, so this is the book that I have:
