Oh I will, I don't really have a choice. Have basically my entire life savings invested here and the wife left her position as a manager, down to a part time employee for starbucks to give me more time to work at the shop and make this a success. She used to make more money than me but she believes in me more than anyone, so now Im the sole breadwinner, kinda scary actually but oh well. I'm hoping to be busy enough in the next 2 years to only have to work one job, this one.

I'm pretty much all in at this point.

Second big customer project showed up today. Ill have to finish one of these before I bring in any others. Super stoked, owner of the porsche is quite well known in the classic porsche community. I'm stoked to be working on it, hoping after all his friends see his car done they'll be lining up at my door.

After the fenders came off.

Sanded the epoxy primer down that was on it since it does need some bodywork,to go ahead and lay a few good coats of urethane to block the piss out of before correcting the body and seeing where it really needs it. Just started tape up of the car but I was tired and it was time to head home.

Rick, you have a very good wife on your side. I have a pretty good feeling your hard work and dedication will pay off.

All in...go nuts!

Nice Porsche project you have there. I want to see that one when it's complete .

Best wishes brother!

Thanks man, ill shoot you a message when its done so you can come check it out. I'd like it to be gone by the end of the month or sooner. Owner was expecting 3 to 4 months. I laughed, eff that. I like to get things done and even with priming and blocking it twice it shouldn't take that long. 54 chevy is all torn down, minus gas tank and steering column. My buddy and the owner started pulling everything out of the can yesterday and threw a ton of stuff out.Once all the new parts show up ill pop the cab off and start on cutting everything out and repairing all that rust.

If i didn't have my fire dept job I'd have this porsche done in 2 weeks or so. If it stays busy enough for the next 12 months ill be having a decision to make.

Yea Im making progress that's for sure, hoping to get this thing done before mid january when I leave for a little cali surf trip. I got to blocking today. The owner did the original bodywork and I spoke with him in length about his process to make sure I had a solid ground to work on. 99 percent of the time I wont do this but the owner has done multiple cars in the past and I was satisfied with his process. The car felt pretty wavy and wanted to get it into high build primer to help with the waviness, but after I started blocking it didn't really matter, quarters need quite a bit of work and the fenders do as well. A lot of high spots, but all in all he did alright. But I definitely would not have painted over it so have to work on getting it right.

in guide coat.

Unfortunately after blocking, found quite a bit of high spotting, and some lows.

once the high spots and low spots are identified you want to try and correct the high spots without adding any more filler, but even after trying to sand it down there was still something high in the metal.

fenders too.

a little heat to help it along on the chilly nights.

Also, got the inside doors, underside of hood, front and rear bumpers, rear trunk lid and sunroof into primer. the doors and underside of hood needed a little safeguarding after I stripped them. Found some small rust spots that I tried to get out, but when they don't sand out you have to wipe this good stuff on it, let it sit for a couple hours on little spots, if they are big it needs to sit overnight preferably, but these were little spots.

and heres how I left it for the night, gotta work at the station at 6 a.m so its nighty night time.

Rick, I'm liking what I'm seeing very much! The more I think about it, and look at your work, the more I'm inclined to get with you and see how much it would be to get my caR done . Keep up the good work amigo!

Shhheeesh I had a long day today. Friend hit a lady a while ago, was finally able to make our schedules work and she needs the car done by sunday. I got to the shop at 630 this morning and just left. Repair quarter panel, repair bumper, spray qp and blend door, spray bumper. Ill get it together and gone tomorrow. Sunday is my sons bday so Im taking that day off

.

After some.hammer work and metal prep.

Forgot to get pics of it prepped and primed but my buddy was go-proing the whole process so he may have some.

Got it sprayed and its drying at the moment. Hope it goes smooth tomorrow and I can get her done.

Customer was happy as a fat kid with cake. Now that I have those two smaller jobs gone the porsche will be the focus of my attention. Most of the new parts for the chevy should be here this week so I can start tearing the firewall and floor pans out. That's gonna be one hell of a job

moving along on the Porsche. Hoping to get second round of primer on it today. doors, hood, trunk have been primed, guide coat and block, touch up bodywork then back to primer. Hoping to have paint on this thing by the end of next week.

Got the hood stripped of the original etch primer, got some rust converter on it, let it sit for 24 hours, prepped and into epoxy primer.

again, this is exactly why blocking is always necessary, I haven't done any bodywork on this trunk lid yet, but the metal itself was wavy high and low, so now I know where to start getting this thing back to straight.

Gotta pay to play, ha. They certainly did set me back a little bit, I have a whole box of the rps cups but I just prefer the basic cup. Ill get around to using the disposables one day.

got the doors guide coated and blocked.

thin dolphin glaze on the slight wave spots to hopefully level it all back off. blocked down and ready for primer.

fenders done and everything minus the car back into the second round of primer. Hoping for a nice smooth block day tomorrow and then can start prepping and masking for paint.

doors:

deck lid:

hood, which was brand new but 30 some years old, had some dents and such from over the years.

fenders:

January, that's it. I've given a ton of quotes but until I recieve a deposit I don't put anything on the schedule. A quote is just a quote.Once I finish this porsche I have a lotus front end clamshell to do but that won't take me but a week. So as of now January is open.
