anyone have another way of getting a hold of these guys? i had a turbo shipped off 3 weeks ago, got the payment done for a rebuild and pnp, and haven't heard anything from them since i payed for the service. i tried calling the number on the website all week, got no answers and have yet to get a call back from the messages i left. i'm starting to get nervous that there is no communication coming back from them.

I remember not having a response for nearly a week one time. Jonathan told they me had been gone for that time and that it happens. I would bet there is nothing to worry about. I spent enough time chatting with him to get a feel that he is a very upstanding guy with integrity. Just make sure you have a number for them to call when they get back in the office.

wow, i finally got a response. i got a ups tracking email with a note from them apologizing for the delay and upgrading the shipping to get here faster. no personal email from them or even a phone call. its disappointing that this is how things went since i've read nothing but good reviews on them. i'm sure there is a reason for this, but like i said earlier, the communication has been lacking.
i don't think it should have came to this point where i had to leave a pissed off message and post on nasioc to get any kind of response. i hope they read this so that they can improve from this since i have not been able to establish any kind of other form of communications. |

6 star speed- ongoing transaction no contact
Any idea how to contact these guys, no response on to my calls and emails seem to be stalling for time?

i called, called, called, and called some more. i didn't get any response until i left a heated message on their business voicemail. still to this day, the only response after the emailed reciept was the message attached to the ups tracking info. seems like communication is not their thing.
on a side note though, i am pretty happy with the work they did on my rebuilt td04 with the pnp. the only thing that i wish they would have done better was to clean up the sealing surfaces to the up and down pipes. in the description they talk about resurfacing, but it looked more like the flanges were just wire wheeled or sandblasted. other than that, the pnp work looked really well done and the turbo feels great on the car. |

So my VF-39 turbo blew last July. My initial plan was to go to a Blouch 20G and have some fun there. After months of research I saw that there are quite a few people running 11's with VF series turbo's and one well known person attempting 10's. My tuner made a comment that the VF-39 on E is quite a bit of fun AND I will make a good amount of power that isn't considered the norm for these small turbos. I was inspired.
So anyway, I don't quite remember how I came across these guys (Google maybe) but I am glad I did. I sent my turbo in on December 15th or so and I just got it back today. They did a great job on the turbo and I got all new lines and fittings. I opted for a basic rebuild with a PnP job and a Perrin turbo blanket. Basically I feel like I bought a brand new turbo. It won't be on the car just yet as I have other issues to contend with before I bolt her in but when I get it in and get her tuned I will be sure to post a review. FYI, I am planning on running E-85 in my STI and pictures of the turbo are coming shortly. Quote:
They usually always got back to me in a reasonable amount of time, two days max. I do feel your pain about the whole communication thing though. There were a couple of delays on when my turbo would be completed which they never bothered to tell me until I emailed asking the status of my turbo. It did take about a month for my turbo to get rebuilt but I did send it to them right before Christmas. |

Email Jonathan and he will take care of you. Be patient though as there were a couple of delays with my rebuild being completed.
For those that are worried, they are a legitimate business and they manufacture some parts and source out others for rebuilds. There are quite a few options that they offer for the VF family of turbochargers. |

Yea I've had the same problem with them that others are apparently having with the lack of response. I emailed Jonathan back in the beginning of December asking how long it would take for them to rebuild my VF39 and add the PnP upgrade. He emailed me back a couple hours later stating that the current turnaround time for when they received the turbo to when it would be finished would be 5-6 days, but advised me that they would be closed on Dec. 17th and the 24th-27th. So I thought ok, sounds good. Since I just started school and wouldn't have the time to pull the turbo and reinstall it myself, I decided to just let a friend of mine do it at his shop and ship the turbo off to them. The turbo was shipped on Dec. 13th and arrived to them on the 18th. On the 30th I asked my buddy if he had heard anything from 6 Star and he said the last he had heard from them was either on the 20th or the 21st and all they said was it was in line, but didn't state whether it was in line to be rebuilt or to be ported. Then on the 2nd he texted me back and said that he still hadn't heard anything back from them. Apparently they took the whole week of New Year's off as well. On the 7th he texted me and said they FINALLY responded back and said my turbo was scheduled to be completed on that Friday, which would have been the 10th. I texted him the following Monday on the 13th and asked if they had sent him the invoice and tracking number for it since I expected it to be shipped already and he said they emailed him back and stated that they got a couple days behind somehow and that my turbo wasn't even finished yet and that it should now be completed on Wednesday, which would have been the 15th. They did however send him the invoice for the rebuild on the 15th and the invoice was paid that day. I texted him once again on the following Monday the 20th and asked if he had heard anything from them and once again he said that no he hadn't heard from them and that he had been trying to get the tracking number from them. I texted him again yesterday the 22nd to see if my turbo had arrived at his shop and yet again he tells me no, and that he still has yet to receive a tracking number from 6 Star. Then this morning he texts me and tells me that they finally emailed him back and stated to him that my turbo still isn't finished, and now they plan on having it finished and shipped out next Monday, the 27th. Now I understand that shops have delays from time to time, and realistically I figured the 5-6 day turnaround may have been a little generous, but I certainly didn't expected it to take this long. There's a good size difference between 5-6 days and what is going on 5 weeks now. Not to mention the multiple runarounds telling me that it's going to be completed and shipped on this day, and then to find out damn near a week later that it's still not done is upsetting and has me highly frustrated with them. I hate to give a shop with such a good reputation a bad review but at this point I feel like I have no choice.

I feel you!! I had a very similar timeline to yours and I received mine yesterday. I got the same delay after delay that you did. They did mention that they were behind on other projects but it would be nice if THEY reached out and were upfront with what was going on. Overall though the turbo looks fantastic and I can't wait to bolt it on and get it tuned. Good luck on getting your turbo back soon.

That upsets me even more. If you sent your turbo in on the 15th then at the very least your turbo arrived to them on the same day as mine, but more than likely after. You had the same thing done to yours that I had done to mine, except you had a turbo blanket added to it. If yours arrived to you on the 22nd, then it was probably completed on either the 17th or the 18th. If ours arrived on the same day, had essentially the same things done to them, then why is my turbo taking 9-10 days longer to finish than yours did? I mean they completely break down every turbo they get anyway. This is getting utterly ridiculous. I doubt I'll ever use this company again. |

I just double checked my emails and I mailed it out via USPS priority on December 16th and they received it on the 18th.

When I mailed my turbo out it had the 5 exhaust side studs in it. When I got it back I realized that those studs were replaced with three others and I am now missing two. What the heck.

What kind of turbo? Stock turbo should be three studs on the bottom of the flange and two holes for bolts on top.....

Update:
Well I received a text from my buddy a couple hours ago and he said 6 Star emailed him saying that my turbo will be ready by the end of the day and shipped out tomorrow. I'm glad it's finally done, even though it did seem like it took forever. As a gesture of good faith 6 Star ended up upgrading the shipping to 2 day shipping free of charge. They ALSO said they were out of the standard cast wheels until Wednesday, so instead of making me wait until then for them to come in, they upgraded me to a billet compressor wheel, which is awesome. Not sure which version of the billet upgrade they gave me since they have like 3 different kinds, but I'm sure they'll let me know. I know I voiced my displeasure about 6 Star earlier because of the multiple delays and length of time it took them to rebuild my turbo. But I'm thankful that they tried to make up for how long everything took knowing that I was frustrated because of it, especially when I know that they didn't really have to do anything extra. I almost feel bad about giving them a semi-bad review before I even received my turbo back, and kinda wished I wouldn't have done it now. |

I know the frustration of waiting man. At least they made good by upgrading your wheel and shipping!

Also beware if you shipped your turbo with the five downpipe studs in as you will only receive three brand new ones back leaving you to buy two more. Leave a note asking to send your old studs back so you can avoid any issues.
I still don't have my turbo installed but I will within the next century. I will post a review of the turbo once I get the car running again. |

Well my turbo will be at my buddy's shop tomorrow afternoon. I also told him ask to them about the studs and they told him they replaced the studs with brand new ones, so we will see.
