Default DIY write up- semi trailer brake lights into 05 sti tail lights

has anyone ever encountered a DIY write up to install semi trailor brake lights, those nice LED 3'' or 4'' round lights, into 05 sti tail lights (into the round part of the light).

I think it would be a good conversion. Those semi lights are bright and look bad a$$ when they have the LED lights with a cool bulb set up.

thank you.

Ohh boy. Do you realize those grote style grommet lights are ~2.5+" deep? This is not the route to go.

havent really looked too much into it. just was wondering if its been done but if I could make a clean hole for some kind of light, maybe a light more appropriate for this install, and then used some kind of seal/filler for an refinements I think it would turn out cool and def have a high utility, those things are bright.

have you seen any other light conversion, similar to this idea, for the 05 sti tails?

Yes check out the painted taillight thread. Also contact Caesar at lightwerks and see if he still does led conversions. The last option isn't cheap.

Check out post #187. Was originally thinking matt did actual arrays, not lamps. Had considered buying some led arrays and modding my tails but got some much going on.

Whoops
