The approach/dimming is not necessarily a feature of the JDM mirror, it is an accessory for the USDM Forester. Since the mirror of the Impreza/XV is the same shape, the Forester accessory is going to be compatible, but the extra wiring to support the extra features is not there, so you'll have to do some custom wiring, it is not going to just plug in. The JDM power folding mirror is similar. The wires are there to support folding but you need to put the parts together into one mirror, and figure out the switch and wire that etc. It's a project not a plug and play mod.

I gotcha, easy peasy then, can use the window switch power feed.

We've been doing it for years on the previous chassis. This new one is pretty much the same situation. I have a set of the JDM folders for this chassis in my basement...

You mean the plug from mirror to door? Its a Yazaki 1mm size, they are hard to find in small quantities you can buy them here.

I have to thank yall for creating this thread. Did the mod myself and saved a ton of money. I can only contribute this:

Canadian model, the 2013 Touring will also have the right wires in the door side of the harness.

Damn, those look awesome. But for almost $500 shipped, they should!

I'll stick with OEM. Good enough.

About to perform this retro fit with the Subaru turn signals. How do you know which connector is positive and which is negative on the LED turn signal? or does it not matter?

Get a 9v battery and touch the ends of the LED turn signals. When they go on, you know which is pos and neg. With led lights it matters.

This looks like a pretty simple project that could really help out on the roads.

Does anyone know how we could get the color matched versions of the mirror covers? Is it the same exact part number as those on the Foresters?

You'll need to get the "scalp caps," i.e. mirror covers painted. No matter what you order, they come unpainted.
