Installing New Invidia race Equal Length Headers, I had GrimmSpeed Ceramic coat them. Bolted to a coated GrimmSpeed 44mm ewg uppipe with the new TurboSmart 45mm ewg. This new gate is so much smaller then the og tial 44mm I have on my wrx. Also much smaller the the newer Tial 38 and 44mm gates. This header and uppipe set up replaced a old APS twinscroll EL header to a merged single scroll uppipe.

All Motor work, tuning, suspension/drivetrain,subframes etc was done by me late night after Im done with work.

More pics of turbo PnP work and car on bottom of the last page.

I know these arent great pics but pics non the less.

HAHA thanks They Barely clear my Nissan Sumitomo front brake setup... I hate Spacers, especially if you dont have extended studs, but I did add a 3mm spacer which obviuosly is the larges you should ever go on stock length studs if anything at all...

Can you rotate the EWG upwards (clockwise) anymore? The dump tube looks like it's at kind of a funny angle. Here's an old shot of my GrimmSpeed/Tial 44mm setup on my 2011 WRX and it's a lot straighter:

The new TurboSmart valves are great though. Definitely the way to go vs. Tial. So much smaller and the locking collar is great vs. bolting on the cover. I'll be slapping a TurboSmart EWG on mine soon too.

I could but actually had better clearance from the 6spd. A major reason I angled it that was was to get the exhaust coming out of the dump to not be directed at the subframe brace. Also I wanted better access to the turbo drain hose etc while having to remove as little as possible. It works for me but maybe not for others. Just my personal opinion.

Another big reason is Ive seen some cars show false knock when the gate dump is too close to the tranny. Sure I could have clocked it straight or not so much but this is what worked for me.

Theres a few things I need to clean up with the car. Im pulling the motor again soon do to a bad exhaust valve guide. Been running this motor for about 20k miles and it runs like a top. I regularly do compression and leak down just to keep note on how this build hold up etc. Just smokes a lil on start up sometimes. Which is ANNOYING as hell.

Ian,

With the 10cm, you are trading spool for more top end power. Which may be good for some, but not so much for others (such as the ej205).

Spools fast, hits hard, and holds more power through the rpm band then most would think. Ive been doing some testing for them and have been running it with out a PnP job for a few months.

All Port and Polish work is done by me.

Garrett/Mitsubishi hybrid consisting of..

STX 67
- Garrett Billet GTX2867R Compressor wheel thats brated at 47lbs/min
- STI stock style compressor housing
- MHI style journal bearing center section made by Kinugawa/Kamak with upgraded high performance bearings.
- STS TD05H 9-blade turbine made from Inconel
- 8 cm^2 hotside
-Billet adjustable wastegate. comes with 1bar "14psi" spring but can be swapped for what ever. "Now Im running the EWG setup"

More pics on top of next page.

Ian,
Nice work on that port job. Based on you feedback, the production STX 67s will have a larger wastegate opening. We can't wait to see your results.

Thanks,
Sam

That's nice to hear. I like that the feedback goes back through the supplier/manufacturer to improve the product. I like that.

Default Always improving

We make great efforts to take our experiences as enthusiasts and implement them in our product designs. We know that buyer feedback is valuable and always consider it.

We are looking forward to all the performance results that come from our production release of the Steam STX 67, STX 71, and the STX 20G-R! Keep us posted, those of you that have ordered!

Looking forward to bolting up my stx 67 when it gets here. It'll be interesting to see how it does on a 2.0L. I'll post dyno results when it's all said and done.

I thought I would plug the kinugawa td06-20g again. Not only did it make great hp 398 with great torque 388 but it also did a 11.758 at 111.55 in the 1/4. Awsome numbers I am very pleased. Now if I can get my fxt build to run like this I will be very happy.

Has anyone fitted a heat shield onto this turbo? Would a Cobb heatshield fit?

I don't see why you couldn't. The hot side isn't a twin scroll T6

I put the OEM heat shield on mine. It was already cut for a bellmouth downpipe and I also had to notch it for wastegate arm clearance. Other than that it fits fine. Any aftermarket heat shield should fit.

Thanks for the compiled list! I added it to the first post. We refer to your "TD06SL2-5371" just as our STX 71 prototype FYI. The production STX 71 will be a little bigger than the prototype. Our production order should get shipped out to us this week. xluben's STX 71 prototype has been upgraded to our production spec STX 71, so we are super excited to see his before and after results. Hopefully we will see 450+ WHP on the production STX 71 turbos.

Thanks again,
Sam
