Peak HP at RPM: 429 HP @ 5720 RPM
Peak Torque at RPM: 430 TQ @ 4481 RPM (Stock 34k mile clutch slipping on pull)
Baseline hp/tq for a stock on same dyno: Do not know.
Target Boost: 23 PSI
Target AFR: 11.5 gas-referenced
Fuel: E85
Engine/Power Modifications:
KStech 73mm CAI, Perrin inlet, 20G/TD05/8cm, ETS TMIC, Invidia ELH, Grimmspeed UP w/ TiAL 38mm EWG, Cobb cat-less TBE, T1 top feed w/ID1000's (50 PSI base pressure), Walbro 400 E85 (hardwired), Aermotive AFPR, Crawford AOS, hybrid boost control (Grimmspeed EBCS/MBC) and Cobb APv2.

Suspension Modifications: KWv1's, replaced all bushings, Whiteline bumpsteer/roll center correction, Cobb sway bars w/ adjustable rear mount, Oswald Triangle Brace, eBay H-brace, Oswald F/R bumper beams, and MSI trailing arms (1" correction).

Other Modifications: Debadged, front lip,...



Spool vs my buddies VF39 (3rd gear for both w/ all mods between the two the same other than the turbo)



It started pushing coolant last year, so I just started the rebuild with a brand new OEM short block with Manley A/B graded pistons.

full boost the same as a vf39?? crazy!!!! any logs of the pull since you did the tuning yourself? Great numbers and great power!

very nice! who make the turbo? Have you run it IWG? Or you have run it iwg did you experience boost creep?

One of my goals with this car was to keep the fun spool it had when I was stage 2. I thought I would have good spool, but didn't think it would be on par with a VF39.

I have lots of logs. I did graph out the pull above where the clutch was slipping. I planned on flattening the timing out (more peak tq timing), but once the clutch started slipping, I just stopped there.

Part of me wants more power when I get the new motor in... But then the other part of me doesn't want to work on it anymore.

It is a Blouch turbo. I also had the hot side coated with SwainTech and will eventually put a turbo blanket on it as well to help with TMIC heat soak. I never ran this with an IWG. While I had the hot side off, I just had the flapper welded.

Haha, it's definitely nothing that stands out. The Cobb TBE and ELH make it extremely quiet... Up until the wastegate opens up.

And just to compare to my S2000 (I/H/E, test pipe, E85 w/ STi injectors, and AEM EMS v2).

Agreed, I want to put 400 to the wheels with the top mount, I might get the cryocooler thing that sprays thee intercooler to keep it colder!

I have considered the idea of wiring up my TMIC sprayer to a boost switch. I figure that would be one way to put it to use as I don't use it any other time. I think the only time I ever used it was when I was in the staging lanes at the drag strip... Which I've only made two trips to back when I bought the car and it was Cobb stage 2.

I just got my new motor installed and running with just over 300 miles on it now. I look forward to seeing what I can do with it once I've got enough miles on it. I ended up with a new short block and swapped out the pistons for the Manley graded pistons. They're fairly quiet for the most part with just a faint piston slap at operating temperature. It's been rather cool here and I haven't been getting on it and with E85, they may not be expanding quite as much as they're meant to.

Nothing too special on this rebuild. Basically it is a stock rebuild with forged pistons and head studs... and a few other minor things.

Really like how clean this car is. The engine bay is incredible, and that motor shine! How much did the motor build cost you? I've got a few options I'm considering, and just doing forged pistons/rods is one route.

Thanks. With all the little upgrades and replacement parts (since it was apart) and a clutch, and factoring I sold my short block for $1k, I want to say I have about $2,500 in the build. I don't like that I have a 704 block now, but it's a chance I took for convenience.

That's not a bad ending total at all. Though the 704 is kind of risky. I just researched them, and AWDtuning has some great deals on built shortblocks. Their stage 2 is the one I'm considering rather than getting my current block redone; I like the thought of going with new case halves and heat treated crank. How is E85 treating you? Any negatives you've experienced?

No complaints about E85. If I go on a long trip, I may have to fill up a reserve can of fuel in case I can't find an E85 station. I would also bring my laptop/AP as well. My S2000 is using a set of WRX/STi injectors on E85. Not much gain being NA, but it keeps the motor cool on track.

Oh, it smells good too.

Thanks. Now I just need to muffle or reroute my EWG and I'll be set. Currently, that's about the only thing I do not like about the car. It's tame/quiet under normal driving, but once it starts building boots, it's obnoxious.
