Subaru Stars Bill Kolb Jr Subaru. Pleasant Experience!

I'm feeling the need to post here after stumbling upon the other threads about this dealership. I have purchased two cars from them (an '06 WRX and an '09 WRX) and both times my experiences were professional, courteous and enjoyable. I think most people here are posting about the dealership as an immediate reaction to a negative experience. From what I can tell, they really do care about the customer and give the effort to make everyone happy. That being said, there's always going to be some people who for whatever reason do not feel the same way or don't have the same experience as the general population.

However, most of the salesmen there are amicable and professional. Yes, their prices aren't always the lowest, but you get a worthwhile experience as opposed to paying a cheap price and getting shoved out the door, which is what I've heard from numerous people who have gone to other Subaru dealers in the tri-state area to find the best possible price. Here, you pay a little more for an overall buying experience that is above and beyond other dealers that I've heard about. You're not just paying for the car, but the experience. I recommend talking to Stu.

The service department is above average in my opinion, and they have a great alignment rack that is flat, so even stanced cars can get on it with ease. Sure most dealerships aren't as tuner-friendly as we'd like them to be, but that doesn't mean that they all hate us. I've been to Ramsey before, and the vibe there is totally different than Bill Kolb. The customers seemed constantly agitated and the staff there was frequently unapologetic and very hesitant to provide any assistance to make customers happy after they had made a sale. If there is ever a problem, talk to Joe, the sales manager. He will be more than happy to try and work something out and fix whatever the problem is.

The parts department is awesome. Joe and Rich are both nice guys who will help you out with anything and don't mind finding weird obscure OEM parts that we all need when modifying our cars.

Another thing to note is that the threads on here were started many years ago, and the staff has gone through numerous changes for the better, from what I can tell. A lot of the salesmen/managers mentioned negatively in these threads are gone. Next time you're thinking about purchasing a Subaru, don't avoid this place just because some thread on NASIOC from 2004 was overly negative.

Lastly, the owners will go out of their way to help if for some reason a solution cannot be reached by conventional means. Maryann Kolb is adamant about customers receiving the proper treatment, in both sales and service. Any inquiries can be addressed to:

Maryann Kolb

Sorry for the pseudo-rant.

Me and my family just bought 3 Legacies from him this month and last month. We had a great experience. Howard Bonnfield was our salesman and he was great.

Bill Kolb can lick my nine. I bought my STi from them. Debadged that big stupid Bill Kolb badge they throw on the back of your car and also removed the license plate brackets immediately.

Yeah I put in my order at the cut off date for the 2014 WRX in SWP and Rich constantly kept me updated on the car and I was happy about the constant updates. I am going to debadge all the Bill Kolb advertisements but it's not a big deal to me because it doesn't affect performance lol doesn't make the car less than what it is. Overall had a good experience at this dealership

Default Not a great experience

I bought my first Subaru, a WRX, from Kolb. I had heard good things about them so I went there. At first everything seemed to be going great. They had a nice one on the lot with only about 5k miles on it and the price was right, so I took a test drive and we began the paperwork.

At one point, I realized I had not been given a Carfax report, even though the salesman had said he would get me one 'right away.' Right before signing the papers, I asked for the Carfax he had promised, and to my surprise, found that this car had been bought back from the original owner by Subaru under the LEMON LAW.

Now, I don't know about you folks but the fact that this car had a marked title, which clearly and significantly affects the value, should have been on the window sticker or at the very least, stated up front before I even took a test drive. Not only did they NOT do any of that, they weren't even going to tell me about it. The only reason I found out was because I asked for the Carfax. I for one will never ever go back to Kolb for anything. Buyer beware

#1. Yup they love to pull car fax bull*****. I remember when I traded in my old wrx to them and bought a new one I had had an accident recently with (which was fixed by insurance 100%) they told me if the accident didn't post to the car fax yet they would give me a bit more for my trade in, cause they print out the clean car fax and show that to customer.

#2. My buddy bought a used wrx hatch from them, they pulled the car fax deal with him, I warned him to run his own car fax before buying it.. he didn't low and behold after he got the car home I forced the issue and he ran one and wouldn't you know they car fax he printed out didn't match the one given to him at dealership. He got a lawyer and went back. Needless to say they gave him a new model hatch at same monthly payment for the used one so he didn't sue the ***** out of them..

STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS...

I ran into a similar carfax issue. I brought it up to Maryann Kolb and she didn't give a damn about my issue. I reported them to the state attorneys office. I know it won't go far because I didn't buy the car, but if someone falls for their lies and does try to go after them, they will have a record that this is a common practice at Bill Kolb.

Avoid this place like the plague.
