What power level would you expect for these cars then? There are very few, if any, 'production' engines that could go over 500hp and still fit into one of these cars.

Oh well. Wider engine bay it is then. I'm sure that ford Mercedes gm etc could all come up with force induction v8's that put out 500+ hp with a warranty. Oh wait. They all do...so imagine what they could do with a motor running race fuel, few carb/epa restrictions and a short life expectancy.

Youre right, they should find a manufacturer that is willing to build a specialized engine for the platform....

My main point was that you can't get to this power/speed/size/weight without anything short of a full-on racing engine. Any implementation of some spec, production based engine would have all of you up in arms about how slow the cars are. Enjoy the fact that they are developing technology you'll be able to enjoy in the 2022 WRX STi.

What I am looking forward to in 2014: A straight fight between nico rosberg, who I rate quite highly, and LH for the WDC - an incredible show. With that team and the ferrari line up, its quite possible the top four in the WDC will be mixing it up all year. Obviously when his car works, Vettel will be in the mix and it will be a thrilling season.... I hope Merc doesnt run away with it, but if they do - itll be a knock down drag out between the two boys.

As if the mere mention of 4G63 wasn't enough, the -bro- should certainly have knocked your sarcasm meter off the charts.

Get back to me.

I'd be excited to see a team that is 1 sec off the pace but with the fuel mileage to go race distance winning the first few races.

Looks like the Danica Patrick syndrome has hit F1. Susie Wolff, "a developmental driver for Williams will take part in the first practice sessions ahead of the British and German Grands Prix as part of her expanded development driver role." In 2004 she was 5th in Formula Renault UK. In 2005 she started in British Formula 3, but broke her ankle and dropped out. She has raced in DTM from 2006-2012 with 73 starts, no wins, no poles and no fastest laps. She is hot though and has a rich husband.

Susie Wolff aka Stoddard lacks of talent, there really is no use to let her drive a F1 car

Simona de Silvestro on the other hand...

I think we should back off Suzie Wolff. Her father was deeply involved in the sport and owned Minardi, I believe for a while. She completed in DTM and considering the talent there did OK, but she always had a backmarker car. I think it's nice PR for the sport, and a nice gesture to someone who has probably been around the paddock for many years growing up. She is highly experienced, and will probably be able to provide good feedback to the engineers after Friday sessions.
