Perhaps now I can look at making some subtle mods to the Subie.
You're such a tease, Jose! Open the hood and show us the car porn!

Have you had the chance to get her on a dyno to see how she's doing power-wise?

Haha! Not much caR porn here since the objective was a functional and reliable OEM rebuild capable of whitstanding some abuse at the track/autocross events. Nonetheless, here's a pic of it .

There's a dyno event tomorrow, but I'm still in the process of breaking-in the engine. Now, since it was an OEM rebuild, I'm not expecting much else than OEM power...a whooping 195 HP...not to the wheel...lol!

Yes, but if you follow Jack's mantra, "add lightness" 195 hp can be a whole lotta fun. I assume your car weighs significantly less than stock.

...and you'll be correct my friend! My caR was put through a "slight" weight loss program, which translates to a fun caR to drive around .

Niiccce! I sold my 2000 PY Type R not so long ago to a family member and picked up a 2012 Impreza sports for my daily drive and a 2013 STi for my weekend/nice day fun drive. =) I still miss my Type R.

JDMSTA, all nice vehicles! Congrats! The Type R is one vehicle one either loves or hates. Mine and I have gone to battle a few times, but I have no intentions of getting rid of it. I guess it's a love/hate affair...haha!

Yeah I definitely didn't want to get rid of the Type R but I was having problems left & right after owning it since 2004. I figured it's time to let go & move on.

What kind of problems were you having? Mine is not trouble free, but the problems I have with it are small in comparison to other things. Hope this never happens, but if I start having problems with the frame and/or corrosion, that's when I'm going to start thinking hard about what to do with it. CaspR and I do have a love/hate affair...haha! Time to go put a few more miles on it .

Well the one major problem was one of my piston rings failed and its spitting out oil thru my exhaust and I kept having to add oil every 1000 miles or so. The quotes I got from different places to just replace a damn ring was too much so my wife and I talked it over and it was best to spend the money on a newer car because after fixing one thing, there's always another problem rises so that was the end of it. I daily driven it since 04' thru winter and all. Starting from 9k miles all the way up to 124k miles. It was a fun filled time spent with the type r though. =)

Ah, the good 'ol ring failure. Glad she was able to give you many years of good service. Thank you for sharing! I bought my caR pretty late in the game, so I have been doing nothing but fixing, replacing, and upgrading. It's never ending. I have upgraded the brakes, some if not most of the suspension/steering components, about to replace the suspension (coilovers), the engine was rebuilt, and the front end redone. More work to be done, but at least now I can enjoy driving it around from time to time.
