Default Sway Bar Options

I've noticed that the rear sway bar appears to be the same as the 09-13 Forester and the front sway bar appears to be 08+ Impreza (non WRX or STi). Does anyone know for sure if that is correct? If it is, it would open a lot more options than what I've been able to find so far.

I searched the forum and wasn't able to find the answer, I apologize if this has already been address.

+1 on the 19mm Perrin, dont know about the endlinks. Maybe once mine break, but I think I would sooner eject from my seat than that happening.

Honestly though, the 19mm is great! You could also check out post #21006 here for a review on 22mm:

Thank you for the information, that really helps me a lot. I was looking at getting a 22mm until I read that post. With the winter driving we have here, and road conditions, I would prefer to minimize over steer.

Is it worth it to upgrade the front sway bay as well or would I be better off getting the strut tower brace? I am not new to modifying cars, but I am new to Subarus and they handle VERY differently from a lot of cars our there and I like to invest wisely. Thank you in advance for helping me with my newbie questions.

I haven't heard of anyone upgrading their front sway bar, and the consensus among people more knowledgeable than myself seems to be that the stock one is more than adequate.

I think the jury's still out on the strut tower brace. Some people swear that it makes a difference, others claim that it's just cosmetic.

I have a Perrin strut brace and I could swear it makes the front end a little more solid over the number of speed bumps and drainage dips I drive through every day.

Had that debate elsewhere though. I'd say if you can get one on sale or used, go for it.

Have it on my car as well, it does indeed fit perfect. I didn't notice any difference though... don't really expect to feel a difference. You're buying engine bling. It does look nice in the engine bay.

Are these the endlinks you used? http://www.rallysportdirect.com/Kart...8-2011-WRX-STI

I really wish these damn websites would start updating the WRX/STi transferable parts so that they reflect compatibility on the 2012+ Impreza. It makes it a pain in the ass because people have to ask here what WRX parts are a direct fit.

I ordered a '08+ 19mm wrx/sti rsb from Heuberger last week and will post after install. I really hope it neuters the understeer.

It should. I installed a '08+ STI rsb and it was a night-and-day difference. You lose a lot of the vagueness in the handling from turning. I feel it's what the sport trims should have gotten from the get-go.

I ordered a 11" sti rsb and bushings. Just want to ask if the stock bracket on my 13 2.0i will fit the sti rsb. Or do i need to order also the bracket for the sti? Also, what kind of grease you guys use for the bushings? Do you guys preferred a specific brand or any kind will work just fine? Thanks!

It will fit. I used the grease that came with my bushings, but I ordered the bushings from amazon.

My RSB came in yesterday. Is it just me or do they look almost exactly the same?? I can't eyeball a size difference at all.

I would think you can see the difference between a 16mm and a 19mm bar.

I thought that too but none of the parts sites list part numbers. They just have a diagram for model year.

At any rate handling *feels* better when pushing it in the turns. Maybe it's a solid bar vs hollow?

A 3mm diameter difference isn't really that discernable individually. If you hold them up together and can't tell the difference, though, you might want to bring out the calipers and measure it just to be certain.

One thing's for certain, though - both the stock 16mm and the STI 19mm RSB are solid.

The bar I received is a 16mm after all. Heuberger confirmed that the part numbers I want for 19mm are:
20451FG020 (the rear sway bar)
20464FG020 (the bushing)

:sigh: returns and more waiting...

I replaced my stock rsb for a 08+ wrx/sti stock rsb. Felt the difference immediately. I used to hear tire squeezing when making turns. No more and it is nice to drive now, handling is improved.

I'd like to know if these are the correct endlinks as well. Recently crawled under my car trying to figure out this weird pinging noise when I went over speed bumps and saw that one of the nuts on the endlinks was missing. The 19mm sway bar I replaced the 16mm one with must have been to beefy for the OEM endlinks. It striped out the bolt on the endlink.

I re-tapped the bolt and got a nut on it, but looking to replace it eventually. That was the cause of the noise.

I posted the question on the rallysportdirect.com website and the response from the staff was that they couldn't confirm fitment.
