Nobody on the forum wants to potentially void their warranty, so you will probably be the first to get a tune.

Agreed.

I'd be fine with a tune, but the last I checked, there were no options.

Definitely interested in the details of the tune. Who, where, how much, results. Please share!

Car is at 21k Miles

90% of the time I fill up to about 12 gallons
Best Tank: 405 @ 33.75 mpg
AVG Tanks: 275 @ 23 MPG
Worst Tank: 220 @ 18 mpg

Highway number is def doable, as it would only require another 30 miles of driving to achieve the advertised MPG. But yes as stated countless times the sluggish 2.0 trying to haul this car at waning rpms is what results in anyone getting less then stellar numbers especially city.

With the way I fill up my DD tank would need to be at 324 to achieve the max advertised city MPG. I have never seen such a number go above 285. Granted everything about traffic and roads in southern MD sucks.. its 15 lights to leave Waldorf in any direction towards i95.. regardless of daily commute or weekend driving.(Yay urban sprawl! )

There really isn't much economy to gain on this car with a tune, probably 3-4% at the expense of emissions.

It ain't just Southern MD, the whole metro area is a mess with sprawl!! By the time they build road to compensate, it's too little, too late.

I'm averaging about 25.5 mpgs. Last tank was my best, 28.1 mpg. I haven't taken a major road trip yet.

In case anyone cares about my 2014 Impreza Sport 5sp, I have averaged 29.1 over 2105 miles. Best tank was 32.8mpg. Mostly highway. I just removed the roofrack cross bars to see if I could increase mileage.

I'm living in Canada, driving a 2014 2.0 touring wagon. My most recent tank of gas got me to 35.5 MPG. That was almost all highway driving, between 70 and 80 MPH. Normally I drive about 50/50 highway and city, and on my last tank driving like that, I got about 31.5 MPG. I don't totally baby it, but I was taking it easier than I used to drive my Toyota Yaris.

I have to say that the economy is pretty good, but noticeably worse than my Yaris (as is to be expected). One thing is that my Yaris seemed to use almost the same amount of gas no matter how I drove it, but the difference between a heavy-footed tank and a conservative tank on the impreza is a lot more noticeable.

But overall, if I can get even 30 MPG in the AWD impreza, I'm not disappointed in the economy.

My 2012 Impreza Premium 5MT is averaging 30.2 MPGs. Driving mix is very variable, but a lifetime average of 43 miles-per-day.

So far so good, it is a good car. Even nicer since I added the Michelin Sport AS/3 tires.

Just completed a ~400 mile trip with decently loaded 2013 CVT. Mostly use the car dash reader rather than fill ups. Dash reader average for the last many months has been about 30 mpg.

This trip was pretty near ideal, no AC, windows half down, and 40% of the mileage was light highway at 60-65 mph, east coast so flat.

Trip computer said 36.x MPG for the 400 miles ( I have a picture if people want to see it), best I have ever seen from the car. I will garner that having the AC on will destroy that. Like the previous post it does take effort to get those numbers, very sensitive car.

One question I had was how the dash compares to real MPG. I noticed early on when I did fill ups it was 2-3 mpg over. What confuses me is people said the odometer almost counteracts that?

According to GPS the speedometer reads 2-3 mpg high. This would leave me to believe the odometer would read MORE mileage than actually traveled? This would cascade to the dash trip computer that we have gone MORE miles than actual and an artificially high MPG.

Therefore I achieved dashboard 36.x mpg but in reality its only 33-34?

as an aside: one little thing I have started doing for long trips is only filling up 1/2+ with gas. You usually end up taking a break every 2-3 hours for stretching, food, etc, might as well gas up at those intervals and carry around ~50 less pounds... if anything makes me happy mentally

Dragonbear, the speedo on vehicles does not always relate directly to the odo, although it may. For instance, one of my bikes has a speedo that is nearly 12% optimistic while the odo in that same gauge is only 3% off.

On my '13 Impreza, the speedo was maybe 2 mph higher than actual, odo was right on. The '14 I have now is right on with the speedo. I don't know about the odo yet as I have had the GPS in other vehicles and forgot to reset the GPS odo my last fill.

My speedometer has been pretty accurate with anything Ive measured against. (stock wheels/tires 205/50/17)

The discrepancy between odometer and gps/google maps has been measured by a couple people. Around 3-5% difference.

I consider the actual mpgs somewhere between hand calcs and dash readout.

So there's the summer mileage I know and love. I got 33 going 65-75 with my front windows down

Imagine if I had my windows up and had CC at 60.

Yep, I've found 65 to be about the cut-off where mpg really starts to drop. Below 60 it really starts to go up too. Going across Utah once at 80-85 we were lucky to stay above 24-27 mpg with favorable wind conditions. 65 in ideal conditions (flat, no wind) will usually net me the rated 36-37 mpg with E0 gas. 60-65 will do 38-40. 58-60 I'll pull 42.

But again, I'm very happy with the mpg possibilities. On the long trips where it matters, it does awesome. I love the fact that on the interstate I can do better than the Prius passing me going 75-80. All I have to do is go 65-70, only 5 under on most interstates.

Like many here are posting, I'm seeing a rise in feul economy with the rise in temperature. For some reason, however, my fuel economy has been consistently about 2 MPGs lower than around the same time last year or the year before. The only difference this year is that I've added the rear spoiler, the rear Aero splash guards and a set of rally armor mud flaps. Does anyone think that adding these items would add enough drag on the car to account for that much of a drop in fuel economy?

It's certainly possible. I've been tempted to take off my oem mud flaps in hopes of eeking out another mpg. You can bet when they were tuning the aerodynamic design of the car they didn't have anything on it, mud flaps, side door guards, spoiler, etc.

So, finally got a chance to do another substantial trip in my 2.0. From Pittsburgh, PA to Charlotte, NC and back. On the way down, front windows down 80% of the time, no a/c used. On the way back, front windows also used about 80% of the time, the other 20%, a/c was used. 70% of this drive is all pretty steep hills, and mostly 70+ mph. I was averaging above 30mpg throughout. Even with the a/c on and the large inclines. With no a/c on the flat portions, it was showing closer to 33/34, and in the hills, around 29/30. I refilled a few times and reset the trip each time, so it's a ballpark. But for low 30's, I'll take it. 2.0 CVT, 23k.

Just spent a long weekend trip from NYC to Boston with 4 people in car. avg 32mpg for the 600 miles trips. Mostly in highway with spend around 70mph with AC on low. That was my best MPG for owning the car for 2 years.

But the worth part is the Noise to deal with in those long highway miles. I already added Noise damping material on the all 4 doors. But the road noise and the wind noise for above 60mph were still crazily loud. Maybe that's a free feature to let me know I'm going too fast.

What tires are you on? Yes, this car has doesn't have much noise dampening, but when i put snow tires on and it got quieter (everything I read said snow tires would be louder than normal tires) I realized how loud the yokohama's were. I can't wait till mine wear out.

Just the stock tires. I will replace the Continental PureContact when the winter comes. But the wind noise also very noticeable over 65mph. Combining both is just LOUD!
