Overall alignment is really far off again, so after spacers you definitely need the alignment

AWB,

here is my pic. w/o the extra weight in the back there is a bit of rake if you look at the bottom of the car vs the ground and the wheel "gap" looks the same. I know it is really close, but it is still slightly more in the front, you can't tell though unless you actually measure, to the naked eye i can't even tell and I know it is different.

i used 3/4" spacer that I made myself, it is all in this thread, circa 11/23/13

I ditched the Yokohama 17" oem tires & changed for the 4 season Michelin Pilot sport A/S 3 same size as the oem 205/50R17. The car handling is totally different. That mild understeer is totally gone & it still cold outside.

It's feel soft when turning but it sure turn. Even the ride less rough like if I was running on those 15 inch steelies.

Technically amber, but yes. lol

And would you be able to post up a close-ish pic of those 205/50's? Between good 205/50's or going to 225/45's. Currently on some 215/45 snows.

Looking into the Bridgestone 970's.

That tire profile looks much better. Looks similar to my 215/45 snows with the wider contact patch. I just hated how round and "bubbly" the stocks were.

Do they twist out?I was trying to figure that out but was focused primarily on foglights. Took a lot longer then expected (7 hours total) but the result is totally factory looking. If I wanted to just half ass it I could have been done in about 2, hours

You talking about the eyebrows?

Just take off the fender cover and use a long 1/4" slotted in the back of the socket to twist it off. Reaching in the fender is a little PITA, tho.

Indeed, the sidewall look smaller with the Pilot Sport due to how it is made to protect the rim from the scratches with the extra rubber sticking out.

Since the rubber stick out, it come flush with the fender. In my province, I cannot have the tires sticking out of the fender even if it doesn't rub.

EDIT:
it look round because it is 205, at 215 it should look more square, but at the cost of fuel economy with more contact patch.

The Motegi MR119 make the tire profile much larger than it look. it looked very weird with the stock tire that I had to change it. My friend suggest me to lower the car, but would be unpractical for daily use.

Similarly to how my 215/45/17 Conti snows are "wider" than the 215/45/17 tires that came on my FRS wheels.

Default AVO DBW Throttle Controller

today i installed the AVO DBW Throttle Controller in my impreza 2.0i and noticed results for a cheap mod well worth it it gives you a more low end response when accelerating its suited for most subaru models with electronic throttle bodys and installation was easy took me about 20mins no drilling holes stripping wires etc just unplug and plug in and instructions were easy to read and setup the controller was easy to read from the instructions it has 3 Map options
Standard - if you want to leave it how it was
Power - has 9 selectable steps with increasingly aggressive throttle mapping
Ec mode has 7 selectable steps with increasingly milder throttle mapping. When the throttle pedal is below 30% operation, Ec mode provide a far more precise throttle map from 0%-30% throttle opening. However, if the throttle goes above 30%, it will switch over to Nor mode for safety reasons.

I don't know if I would consider this a "cheap mod" at $200 US, but I have been curious about the throttle improvements. I've seen many posts of people installing them in their 2011 and under imprezas and WRX's, but none of the new Impreza 2.0i vehicles. Could you please describe the differences a little more?

when im saying "cheap mod" i should of said easy to 'DIY' mod for value for money like installing a pod filter/exhaust just like minor mods but easy to do and for differnces in the vehical cause ive only put it in today but having it on "standard" it was really sluggish on take off and low gear low revs around turns after working my way through the settings and putting it on Power = P09 which is the max setting it will go it was alot more throttle sensitive and around corners in a low gear it was quicker to rev out to the next gear the pic below is off the instructions i got of the % of the acceleration the middle line on the angle going upwards is the standard line the p09 is the power each line is differnt maps on the controller from p01 > p09 and the of3 is the lines from 0f1-0f3

My Impreza is a 2012 with a manual tranny and 26k miles. My observations are anecdotal, but here they are.

When I first bought the Impreza, I thought it was pretty weak and lacking in power. I've since decided that it's not nearly as weak as I thought it was. I'm not sure if it's because I've learned how to wring power out of the engine better (I did have to change my driving style after getting used to the low-end torque of my 2010 VW TDI), or if the engine is more punchy now that it's broken in (or, more likely, both).

Regardless, I don't have issues with the power like I did when the car was brand new.

I mention this only because I see that Mini Lan installed this mod on his brand new 2014 Impreza, and I'm wondering if he would have found this necessary had he given the engine more time to break in, and for him to learn the characteristics of the engine.

All I'm suggesting is that if you're unhappy with your Impreza's power when the car is brand new, perhaps you should give it some time before looking to modifications.

It looks like all this mod does is make the throttle more sensitive and less controllable. The last 60% of pedal travel on the Po9 curve controls the last 24% of throttle angle, and probably the last 10% of power delivery.

I'd rather have more control at lower power levels for smooth shifting and easy rev matching, but to each his own.

I am glad you found this. I wont be able to get one for a couple months but this is something that would help me alot. I encounter alot of Traffic and the stop and go after 30k+ miles i still struggle getting a smooth start without slipping to clutch too much in the first gear.

Looking at the installation: does this plug into the OBD-II port?

I would guess that this mod might make it harder for you to get a smooth start, not easier. But I don't know for sure.
