Default jack points on 2012/2013 impreza?

Where are the appropriate jack points on the 2012/13 imprezas? I'm talking about using a non-pro floor jack (mine is just a craftsman - nothing too great). Thanks!

If you PM me your email address, I'll send you a scan from the service manual that shows the jack points.

You will see that the rear jack point is the rear differential housing, and the front jack point is a metal skid plate slightly behind the engine, beneath the tranny or front differential. Both of these jack points are located on the center line of the car, not out toward the edge. So my approach is to lift the front end of the car and then place jack stands beneath the front pinch welds. If I need all four wheels off the ground at the same time, I then repeat the process using the rear jack point and rear pinch welds.

The problem you're likely to have is that your Craftsman jack may not be low profile enough, especially to reach the front jack location. Here's what I bought for lifting the Impreza:

Hope this helps.

how do you attack that front location? do you go from the front of the car?

I foresee two reasons I'll be lifting my car that will cover 99% of the time: changing the oil and changing/rotating the wheels/tires. On past cars I've just stuck the floor jack right on the pinch welds next to the wheels and had at it but I figured if there was a better/safer way to go here I'd give it a go.

I get at the front location from the front of the car, beneath the front bumper.

Not only is the jack I linked to above a low profile jack, but the handle is long. This is why your Craftsman jack might not work for you. Some people have had luck driving up on 2x6 boards in order to gain enough clearance for their jacks. I decided to buy the jack referenced above instead. I had a coupon, so I got it for less than you see in the ad. I also had a coupon for the jack stands ($15/pair). I see the jack stand coupons in the car magazines all the time. The floor jack coupons are less common.

For oil changes, many people here like Rhino Ramps. I'm not fond of ramps myself, so I don't use them. Besides, they won't help you when you rotate tires.

My process of lifting all four wheels at once is great for tire rotations, brake line bleeding, etc.

EDIT: I just received a coupon mailer from Harbor Freight. The floor jack is advertised for $70 instead of the $90 shown on the web site. Coupon is good through 10/31. Maybe you can find this mailer on the HF web site, or at the store.

Oh, and I put a hockey puck on the cradle of the floor jack. This provides lots of cushioning, and gives an extra inch of lift height. The cradle of the jack I linked to above has a nice big cradle, making the hockey puck a perfect fit.

How much did you get your jack for again? Could you list the prices again?

I might have paid $10 less than shown in the coupon. And I paid $15/pair for the jack stands.

Yes. Send me a PM with your email address, and I'll send you a graphic that shows the jack points.
