Default WTH Reno?

So I've been in Reno for the past week visiting my parents, I live in SoCal. I've seen quite a few Subies and have waved at every single one. The closest I've come to being waved back to was one guy that looked at my car as he drove by. What the hell Reno? I'm very disappointed coming from SoCal where we all wave back and even go out of our way to park next to a fellow owner.

Can someone enlighten me as to why all the animosity? Perhaps not animosity but definitely indifference! Makes me sad to know that if I did happen to break down out here a fellow owner could very well drive right past

Were you also in a Subie?

I think the prob with Reno is that there are SO many Subies that even if you just wave at something with a hood scoop, you're still waving every few minutes.

There really isn't much Northern Nevada presence on these boards (I only comment 'cause I used to live there) - seccs.org and flat4nv.com (or org, or whatever it is) tends to be more active for Reno. If I remember rightly, there's like one meet once a month or something.

Maybe it's 'cause up in Reno, Subarus are practical and thus less unique. You drive 'em 'cause you need to. Where as in Phoenix... you drive 'em because you _want_ to, which may automatically engender a tighter sense of camaraderie.

YMMV, of course. ;D

Wow forgot about this thread lol

I know what you mean as far as everyone driving them. I used to live in the Boulder, CO area and EVERYONE has something with a hood scoop there but nobody waves lol. I guess when I move there I'll have to get used to that again.

I notice this too, living here.

No one ever waves back

But then again, subarus are every 25 feet, so its a good way to avoid carpal tunnel

Still, though, every time I'm there, I have to fight back the urge to wave... especially when I'm in a ****ty rental car.

I try to wave as much as possible. I come from the VW community where everyone waved.
