Post Surviving New England

Hey guys! We all know living in New England takes a big beating on cars. The region is quite brutal when it comes to winter. It brings me to this question,
What have you done to your car to make it survive New England? All of your modifications are welcome!

Or buy another car vs keep an older, less "nice" car as a "winter beater".

Wash it weekly. Protect it in the spring and fall.

Keep up with waxing and in the wintertime get the underneath cleaned a lot to rid of the salt and grime from the winter.

A garage, a car cover and a winter beater.

I realize that it's a Subaru and not a Ferrari. Drive it all year no matter what.

I hit most every bolt that comes off the car with anti-seize before I put it back on and anything I install, if it's metal, I try to buy either stainless hardware or I powdercoat it.

Besides that, just normal washes and waxes. If the salt and sand doesn't get to your car, a careless driver who swings his door wide in a parking lot eventually will.

rubberized coating on the entire bottom of the car, and wash every week and a good sealant.

It's pretty hard to keep it nice while driving in the winter. No matter how many preventive measures you take there will always be rocks flung up by the person in front of you, salt on the road, random snow/ice banks... also in the road, scratches from cleaning the snow/ice off the windshield and doors, and finish it all off with the massive amount of loose tar that they fill potholes in with come early spring that sticks to everything and flings all over. Mud flaps help a bit... but barely.

If you really don't want anything to happen to your car during the winter, garage it. I'm very anal about chips and dings, but at this point in my life a single car is the most practical.... so I have to live with the consequences of winter conditions.
