Default GC8 W R X "Race Altered" Model Year 1997

I have had the car now for three months and it's been a joy. It came with only very minor modifications but these are now removed and the car is as OE as possible.

The front brakes are woeful but have been upgraded to Subaru 4 pot calipers, grooved discs and Comline Pads.

A bit of RA info first. The clocks are still in KM's, it's still restricted to 112 mph and running the OE engine/cat pipes etc. It rolled off the line in May 1997. The car had it's first MOT (UK Road test) on the 23 July 2008 after it was imported from Japan. It was a Grade 4B (?) and came in via NIKKYO Ltd out of Yokohama to Newcastle,GB.

All the Japanese badges are in place and the car is fitted with a Fujitsubo Titanium back box.

Beautiful! I love all of the "RA" variations.

BTW, "RA" stands for "Record Attempt", as in the 100,000km endurance record that Subaru set out to break with the Legacy RS type RA.

> AUGUST 1988
The 100,000km New World Speed Record project team was formed by August. The team involved 101 people. The record attempt was named “The RA Project,” and a Record Attempt (RA) Project Preparation Committee was directed by the STI administration of president Ryuichiro Kuze.

Again, beautiful car. Enjoy!

Not in this case. The car is the original "Race Altered", lightweight, stripped out with a short ratio box as sold in Japan. Wind up windows, no CL, no ABS, no EW less sound deadening etc etc.

As for plans, it's staying as OE as possible. I have a Subaru STi backbox to fit and the Fujitsubo is being sold.
