Default Just brought my 15 home and now I cant drive it......

..... because its so new that Esurance cant give me a policy on a car they dont have in their system. They told me it would take 24-48 hours to put in a request for info in order to price the policy.

This is such a fail. I cant possibly be the first person to insure one of these with allstate/esurance. I would totally bail if my policy wasnt prepaid up to sept.

My agent had same issue of car being too new for the system, so she had me send her a pic of the window sticker and she insured for full amount no questions asked.

Pretty sure if you have an existing policy you're automatically covered for 30 days on the new car.

This is State Farm's Policy. I already updated mine, but they told me I was covered by the existing policy for 30 days.

Did you finance the car? If so, it would have had to have (at least in MA) insurance on the vehicle before hand.
Did your dealer register the vehicle for you? If so, it would have had to have (at least in MA) insurance on the vehicle before hand.

I'm not seeing where this is Esurance's problem. Why did you pick the car up before talking with your insurance company?

My independent agent solves these problems so I don't even know they happen. Captive insurance companies? Not even once.

Yeah here in MI insurance has to be on the car before it leaves the lot. Even to get my loan from the bank they need proof of insurance before I can get the check handed to me.

Wow that's a massive fail. I would be threatening to leave (and putting nasty messages on social media). Did that to my insurance company here in Australia and wow did I get discounts haha! Good luck.

It's not in the system but they can give you a manual quote. You just have to give them make/model, VIN, year, and MSRP.

if you have a current insurance policy your car should be covered for 30 days. I have Allstate i didn't have a problem with adding the '15 wrx to my policy

While it does "suck" that the brand new car isn't in the system yet, that doesn't warrant THREATENING messages to them. He could simply call his agent/contact and get a manual quote.

Believe it or not, it takes more then an hour for a company to add a product to their inventory.

We got ours the beginning of April. I called my agent gave her the VIN. She said she'd call me back with the price change. She called me back and said the vehicle is too new so it isn't in their system but she contacted their Tech team and they were adding it to their database but she probably wouldn't have more information for me until the late afternoon or the next day.

Next day she calls because their tech team couldn't find any information on what type of engine it is etc. (apparently they don't have google ). So I stopped by and she made a copy of the window sticker and sent that off. She called me a few hours later to let me know it would be $10 more for the 6 month premium

Just be patient and work through it with them. No need to get angry. The car is REALLY new. If your insurance is worth having, it should be a pretty painless process and they should be nice about it..

Same here but I still drive the car, pretty sure it is covered under your existing policy for a set time when you purchase a new car w/temp tags.

I called my Allstate insurance agent beforehand and gave them the VIN. Therefore, I had coverage the moment I picked up my car. To avoid situations like this.

I just tried to get an online quote from about 6 different insurance sites and 0 of them had it in the system yet. Geico, AllState, Progressive, esurance, 21 century, Farmers.

Guess it is a call-only quote right now. For those that do have it done, are they giving crazy rates for the new model since it has broken off from the Impreza family?

Mine stayed the same as the 14 WRX. The cars are safe and have basically the same MSRP and are sedans. If the rates change that significantly between the 14 and 15, time to start shopping

Yes, as opposed to a major insurance company like State Farm, Geico, Allstate... oh wait.. Esurance is Allstate.

I would think that, like several people said, most insurance companies can cover you on a new car (and give you some sort of prrof to print off) for a short period of time while they work out things on their end.

First-world problems eh?
