Default WRX headgasket an optiong?

I am going to put a new headgasket on my MY97 DOHC 2.5L engine and I am wondering if a WRX or STi 2.5 headgasket might be the better option over the new and improved DOHC 2.5 gasket? Anyone know if this would effect my compression to my advantage? A fellow member was saying that my timing will be thrown off by changing the headgasket size, any input on this? OH and ofcourse the heads are being o-ringed.
