THAT^^ (anklebiter build) has got to be one of the greatest things ive ever seen. I read the whole thread the other day, and its amazing. The guy is one hell of a fabricator

Yea, I've seen you at the world site.(I'm 76-914 over there)Dang, it's been almost a year since I posted here but a quick update. I've stripped a 2003 LL Bean of it's engine and wiring. Just cleaned her up and put new valve cover gaskets on it. Got it mounted to an engine stand and will start with making some motor mounts. Suspension and radiator are in. Looking for a late model Suby 5 speed to couple to it, now.

The stock fuel tank was also in front of the dash up above between the tires.
Yes weigh distribution, you don't want the front end to be too light- and "float", you want the front tire to grip and bite to the ground.
Actually I ditched the 15 gal Alum. Fuel cell (shown in first link below); I will be put in a 10 gal Poly cylinder tank low to the floor right behind the hood scoop, or might have to custom build a tank at the same location.
BTALground initial fuel tank position is right in the way of Porsche 914 thru body sway bar! (And I had ask them to clear that area for me specifically if I'm not using the 911 undercar sway bar.)


I aslo have few (7) Fiat 850 Spiders, the engine is at rear and fuel tank is right behind the seats, between the convertible top and the engine (above the transaxle).
There was really nothing at front except the battery and the spare. The whole car weighs at 1600 pounds!
When I drive above 70 MPH, the car seems light or float in the front.
Very scary, feel like I don't have much control - especially when I got that little 52 hp up to 90MPH!

This 914 not only have the fuel tank in the front, it's placed lower positioned than Stock right between the front tires.
The radiator and condenser are also at front of the car; also vented thru the hood to create more down force for the front end to stick to the ground......

I don't know what had happened to them? Tried to contact them, but nobody replays back???

The car has since moved to a body shop for a lot of body work - there are a lot of Fiberglass items: front and rear lids, both doors, and front and rear bumpers plus the front lower spoiler..........

The body man had to redo almost 40% of the work from the previous shop; also dumped the engine and transaxle cradle and bought from coldwater914 - very nice engine cradle and transaxle hangers!

The car is now painted, body work (almost completely) done; suspension start to fit on to the car:

Really cool looking build man...
Theres a what looks to be an old German car service station for sale, on old Lincoln highway here in pa, I spotted a couple of 914's there as well as a wealth of german vehicles sitting on the lot. And when I say nothing, I mean nothing on the lot looks relatively newer in terms of Model years....

that being said, good luck with the build!

Motor is being preped and cleaned in another tuner shop, probably keeping is stock for now and just get the aftremarket (Haltech) ECU and Digital Dispay hooked up and running.

I can't decide to black out the door handles/mirror or wrap with this to match the body yellow?

Running to a snag on front 911 suspension, need to add a Hub Blocking plates for cooling the brake rotor.
Made 3D CAD model and friendmade them in SS with laser cut, not sure if they fit yet? The hub and rotors are at teh bodyshop more than 2 hour drive away.
I just got the dimensions from here (some were not exactly fitting as the body man told me - I had to tweak a little)

I love this view, the car looks so Square from the top![IMG][/IMG]

The Targa top (bar) has not been painted, becasue initially I wanted to be matte or texture black to match the top
Now, I decided to painted body color - I can always use Plastic Dip (black) or Vinyl Wrap (with Black or Carbon Fiber black) - both can be removed easily if I don't like them.

Beautiful car the Porsche 914 is my favorite model, a buddy of mine has one with a built small block 350 chevy.
