Have a Nice Day? Help a newbie out. IAT Sensor.

Good Morning NASIOC,
So i finally have a weekend off, and I'm just trying to do some maintenance on my 2002 Subaru Impreza RS. My CEL has been on for sometime now and its throwing a P0113 code IAT circuit high input.

Before i get flamed for maybe not doing enough research or coming across the right thread, know that i have looked on everything that comes up in the search and i am either a) confused on what these people are saying or b) only coming across wrx and STIs and not sure if its all the same etc etc.

So some of the questions i have are, how serious is this issue? How much is this part generally? is it better to buy it from the dealer? can you post a pic of where it is and what it looks like? and is the part in the link below the part i need? weird thing is i looked on advance auto, typed in intake air temperature sensor for a 2002 impreza rs and this part came up. i did the same however for 2002 wrx and it did not come up. so this contributes to my confusion.

Thanks so much in advance.

On MAP-based engines, the IAT sensor is in the same physical housing as the manifold pressure sensor (same thing as your link). On MAF-based engines, such as the WRX, this sensor is housed with the MAF sensor. It's a different unit, located in a different location in the engine bay. So you can't just purchase the IAT sensor by itself.

You should also do a general check on the wiring and ground cleanliness just to rule out a circuit issue since this is a pricey sensor. If you post up in a wanted classified subforum, you might get a used one for cheaper. But caveat emptor.

Thanks a lot!! Appreciate your detailed response I was thinking about doing a quick run around for cleanliness etc. I should have mentioned that the CEL doesn't stay on all the time, I turn the car on and sometimes it's gone and then driving it'll turn on. There are times where it's on all day turn the car off overnight and the next day still on. I feel it though when driving, the car will almost lag for a brief second and then the CEL will turn on
