Both rear towers are done ! Did I say it is a pain to weld this stuff !!!
Well, its a PAIN to WELD! But its done.

And here is my idea to help the towers. Going to add a center plate and ties. Then after the cage is in I will tie the L&R towers together at the top.

Ideas ?

Cage starts with a paper cut out to fit. Then a test bend. This is the old school way.

And poof a main bar !

Some more fitting , got it about 1/16" off the main roof side frames. Kool !

And a side shot. Cleared all the door handles .

Thanks Brock.

Finished the front base plate. Man,I will be glad when I don't need to weld heavy steel to the body !!! Also bent the other door bar.

So cut up the base plate.

Weld in the bottom plate, all the way around !

Weld in the side and top plate.

And bend a door bar and fit. Easy !

Its funny how just a bar or two can make a car look like it has a cage. Working on the door bars, sill and dash bar.

On to the dash bar. I will not use the Factory bar,it was in the way.
So,cut and fit. Did some bends to clear the A/C and heater box. Will also need to build a bracket for the steering gear.

Then some dash trimming . Had to cut the dash to make it around the cage.

Test fit the dash.

And pooof ! All done. The cool part is it fit.(This was all luck) And all the vents and defrosters will stay stock, and work ! Now on to the front/top cage bar.

Still have some trimming to do but the drivers roof bar is done. Will need to weld them up and then trim the ends for the main bar welding. Looks like I will need one more stick of DOM (because I made some mistakes,oh test bars!) to finish the door bars. But I was close!

Going to take the weekend off, ran out of flap wheels.

Almost all welded. Just need to cut the roof. I know, but the roof needs work on the driver side. Looks like it was patched. Maybe a tree ?

And,maybe I have just enough tubing to finish the cage ? Lets hope !

All but one bar cut and just need to weld it up. All most done! This is a real time burner ! I don't know what a cage system cost but it must be a ton !

I don't think the strut towers in the rear are going anywhere ? LOL
Still need to cut 2 holes in the roof to finish the welds.

Long day ! Welded up most of the things left. Also you can see how to do the top welding . LOL

You must remember the roof is in bad shape . This is not for the first timer !

Test installed the seats and the dash. After welding, things move around sometime ? Still need to order seats ? big $$$$

Look at all the bars!

Cool, the tracks even work . Their is a RallyX that I would like to go to in 2 weeks, but don't know if things will be done in time ? Mush still to do !

Last of the bars and only the gussets left. Still need the seats to get here.

Co-drivers bar is 1 3/4" lower because the seat will be lower.

Anybody using a single point chassis jack ? Thinking about add one.
