Just come on out and hang out! There are some great spots to take pictures from. If your lucky someone may even be able to take you for a run or two! Hope we can get a few more spectators out this time!

You in again Stu?

For anyone interested, I'm going up the night before and starting at the Inn Towne motel. Significant alcohol will be consumed. All are invited to join.

Yes sir I will be there! Just gotta rebuild the car when I get home this week. Had it all apart for it's new goodies but was unable to get it in for a tune anywhere until August.

Just clean all loose stuff out of it. Check tire pressure & fluids. Make sure your battery is solidly bolted down. Bring a large tarp to put under your car while parked and 4 heavy objects to hold it down while you are racing (tires work great if you are changing to gravels for the race).

If you're me, you'll also bring a hacksaw to saw parts off your car as needed and a sledge hammer to do any on the spot fender rolling or body work.

Bring a helmet and a GoPro if you have them as well as lots to drink and hopefully you'll need sunblock!

Oil change after a rallyX? That's new to me. Anyone else do that?

thanks a lot! I've just heard that most people so oil changes right after track days and stuff and figured it would be similar. putting a tarp on my list! also, is an aggressive winter tire a step up from a summer tire?

Big thanks to all that attended! Another great shoot out that came down to 2 seconds between Alex and I again! Tons of fun had by all, and I really hope we can get more bodies out to the next event. We really need to grow this before it dies out. Spread the word to everyone and let's get this rallyx series to take off!

I agree stu but we need more notice to have more people show up. that and the middle of summer is never good time to many people with plans that were made long ago. the first event happened with 5 days notice. im disappointed that i couldn't make either event this year. do you know why we cant use the whislter venue anymore? that track showed so much promise I much to busy with work right now but I would like to join the organising committee but I just cant right now.
its frustrating for me cause I built a rally wagon including gravel tires but I never get the chance to use it. I guess fishing trips are my only chance to get sideways now.

PS congrats on the FTD and 1st place looks like the few that showed up had a blast.

was tons of fun!
especially my two last run with the sunroof banging on my head lol

as far as i know olympic park authorities don't want to deal with motorsport
hemlock would deal with us but they want $1500 for leveling the pad every time
which i'd say doesn't sound right

and for those interested:
Kristin said if one finds a new venue he/she will never have to pay entry fees.
ever =o)
sooo... start searching!

If I knew of any venue, I'd be all over it.

Kevin is right about getting more people out. I'm surprised how few there were this time, didn't we have 20+ at the same event this time last year?

ya last year there has hardly any room in the pit row. even the iceX had lots of participants. its a shame there isnt a parking lot around or maybe a old quarry we could use. im always looking but my resources are limited

LMAO.... Quote of the day.

Couple thoughts...

1) I got sick of the stopwatch and hearing talk about how we need a timing system. I ordered one last night, so we'll have a full laser timing system for the next one.

2) The reality of the venue situation is that if we want a good venue, we're going to have to pay real money at some point. $1500 doesn't surprise me (though IMHO it's more a BS fee). No reason a counter-offer couldn't be made though.

3) Getting more people out can solve a lot of problems. With more people and a bit more pro-setup we can get some publicity which will mean more people which means a bit more money which means bigger venues which means maybe some sponsorship. But as I've said to the crew, it's kind of a catch-22 situation where you need them all at once. But it comes down to getting more people out which means lots of notice and publicizing the event a bit more, not just to the current people.

Of course, anything we do to support RallyX has to be supported all the way up or it's going to die out the second we stop.

That's unreal! Timing equipment will be huge for us. Your exactly right in everything you said. We need to get a lot of things to come together at once. I really hope with effort from a few of us that we can make it happen.

i wonder if ice racers would be interested to join?
(i'm gonna to talk to Kristen about that)
but i think the main reason for not too many ppl going is they're afraid of damaging their cars.
and while there's no way one can wreck the car unless he's absolutely stupid
he can blow a strut if pushes it hard.
last time surface was really smooth in the beginning but some rants started to emerge at the end of the event.
so in my opinion smooth surface is a key.
...or get a half decent suspension at least.
...if we had a bigger pad we could do two parallel courses and that's be twice as fun
(my dream)=o)
coz you know -
gravel is for racing, tarmac is just for getting there =o)

I broke something every time I did a hope event. bent/cracked/chipped Wheels, wrecked gravel tires, ripped bushings, rebuilding coils (DMS 50's... can't say they're not "decent"), smashed fenders(from gravel tires), and the sides of my car were getting thrashed from rock spray (I have 2-3" long scratches going all the way down to metal) that makes my car looks like it got keyed by someone with a weed-whacker. Along with winding the hell out of your engine in first (because the course is to small for second) it makes for one damaging event.

Now this isn't, and won't, be most people's experiences but it was for me. And driving any other way to me is boring. Yes, my 'driving style' (if you can even call it that) does not work well with keeping a functioning car.

These events are SUPER fun. But I always left with broken suby bits and a sour taste in my mouth. Get a bigger, less damaging venue (aka whistler and not the crappy little lot we used the first time) and I will come back out.

I will stick with icex, autox, and track days... for now...
