Default 2015 Interior Trim Mods

Anyone know if someone will ever make a better looking piece to replace the faux carbon fiber on the dash cluster? That and the cheap feeling center console where the cup holders are.

Anyone thinking of swapping the cloth on the door trim to something that feels a bit better? Maybe leather (like in the LE) or alcantara?

I finally saw the CF in person and I'm OK with it but I would like to see what brushed aluminum would look like. I think the other imprezza's based Subaru's have that as standard but I'm not sure if they are directly swappable.

Yes...yes, lol, me too...I much prefer the nice STI center cluster. I also felt a little flex in there, or slop (like what pigs eat lol) as I like to call it lol, that I'd like to iron out.

Finally, the cloth on the doors yes but also that plastic where the window buttons are at is frankly the cheapest part of the new interior.

Yeah. Hopefully someone tries something cool. Cheap plastic bugs me, esp cause I'm coming from a 09 Nissan Altima. Cheap plastic everywhere! I know I bought a Subaru but if I can make it look even better why not?

I like the STi cup holder door and would love that. Hopefully a mod comes soon, for cheap haha.

Let's settle on...for a reasonable price lol.

If that plastic part will pop off then there is hope, also the cloth part you mentioned. Someone just has to be brave lol.

There are quite a few people who have tricks for the HID yellow fog conversion in the 2015 WRX & STI owner club page on FB with links to their build threads on here as well man. Mostly NASIOC forum members, check it out

Didn't know we were talking about fog lights in an interior trim thread.

Yea I also couldn't stand having the fake carbon fiber and so I did a matte black vinyl wrap on the trim just after 4 days of ownership. I'll post pictures tomorrow since there's a fairly big storm here at the moment but it is SO much better than stock.

Its hard to say, seeing as the car has been out 2 months. Simple fact is you'll need to wait and see or go custom if you can't wait.

FYI the upper half of the WRX and STI is a Forest (2014-2015) Dash, My 2014 Forester had a nice Gunmetal look to the trim pieces. the only part that is different was the MFD and Hazard Light area.

Unfortunately the gray skies necessitate the flash which washes out and ruins the true depth of the matte vinyl. Maybe later in the week I'll take another shot on a sunny day so you can see how good it really looks but this should give you an idea of how much cleaner the car looks without the glossy faux CF.

Exactly, so it should be a plug and play swap. Polished aluminum or piano black like I have seen on some Mazda's would be nice also.

any tips on removing those smaller panels? I heard they are difficult...especially the smaller driver's side one.

Ditto. I can't for the life of me get the small drivers side piece off either.

FYI, guys...

I was on eBay and I noticed this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/131232535841...84.m1423.l2649

So, it is possible to detach this part which is good news. Now that I own the 2015 this part is the only part that comes to mind right now that looks and feels cheap.

If I recall correctly to get the driver side trim off, which is the matte black part in my picture above, you need to first remove the small panel below the trim, which is below the traction control button. It actually has a hand hold built into it and it just pops right off but is still connected by plastic hinges so be careful not to break these. Once you get this off you can push on the panel to the left, which sits up against the door. Removing this gives you more options to get behind the panel you want to wrap.

I can't remember if I also removed the panel with the dimming roller and trunk unlock but I seem to remember having to reconnect those wires so maybe I did. Anyway, the main idea is to remove the plastic panels around that to-be-wrapped trim until you can get behind it to access the tabs which hold it in place. After popping free a few tabs you'll be able to get some some leverage so you can actually grab it with your fingers and pull it off.

I've got some Di-NOC coming; I'll see if there isn't a better option than stock or matte black.

Keep us in the loop about the Di-NOC. The matte black makes the interior look even cheaper IMO.
