Default Coilover adjustment question

I understand that I have to thread the upper lock ring down to adjust ride height. I have the lowest lock ring loosened, but the top will not thread down. They're are two bolts on the coil and I read that I need to loosen the top one to be able to thread down. Can anyone elaborate on this? Thanks

Generally the 2 lock rings are on the bottom of the spring (top rests against a fixed perch) so yes you usually need to loosen the lower ring before moving the top ring higher to raise height, or lower to drop the height. Where are the 2 bolts located that you're referring to? On some coil-overs the rings have locking set screws in the collar that need to be loosened to rotate the ring.

I know this sounds silly, but are you turning them the right way? You need to hold the top ring with a tool while loosening the bottom "locking" ring. (At the bottom of the spring). Spray down and clean the threads with a brush if need be.
Good luck!

put them in a vice and use an air hammer (or a deadblow).
