Default Feeler/what would you do?

2005 Saab 9-2x w ~90K. Engine crapped out the other day - not sure if uppipe exploded and took out turbo or motor happened first, but basically engine/turbo would have to be replaced, if not more...I don't even have a ballpark estimate and it might be more expensive to fix then it's worth. Transmission is good, body is mostly decent with cosmetic nicks, etc. suspension, meh, interior is in good shape. Considering a swap or part out or selling a rolling chassis. Previously had a 02 wrx, so I've been in the platform for 12 years, could use a change...

Anyone know anyone looking for a project car? Someone unloading an engine? What would you do?

Thanks for your input,
Wylie

Depends on your funds. Replacing engine likely cheapest way to go compared to selling a roller and then buying a new or even new used car.

I would keep her unless you just need new.

New 2.5 SB and a 16g. Do the clutch and suspension while you're at it. Investing 5-7k will leave you with a great car, ready for another 100k+. It's probably worth ~3k as it sits now, and even if it won't be worth 10k after the rebuild, you would be VERY hard pressed to find a vehicle that can compare for less than 15k.

Part of me wants to keep it, eventhough it'd be a lot of work and part of me wants to go a new direction. I think major differences are time and that I can get a loan for a new used car. I dunno where I'd come up with the funds for a rebuild and it has to be reliable. I was thinking ~3k-4k as a rolling chassis seems reasonable. Thanks for the responses.

I have a GRV-OEM(11 STI sedan)short block- Getting a brand new OEM short block and will be installing Manley "drop-in" forged pistons with some other goodies
I'll be getting rid of this short-block with about 14k on it and healthy!
Tuned after the first 1k, by Cleo at Precision Tuning..Make me an offer if you wish

I'd say pick up a used longblock and drop it in. Can prob find one in the $2k range with lower miles.
