Default Rethread Stock STI TMIC?

Wondering if anyone has done this and or if its possible. My mechanic said that it cant be done i have to cough up 250 for a used one. What about thread inserts? I am talking about the bypass valve threads.

Heli coil. Needs to be done on many of the aftermarket TMIC's.

I just bought longer bolts from autozone but if all the threads are stripped you can just tap it and put a bigger bolt.
