Question EJ257 shortblock swap + turbo onto a GME using the SOHC heads

Is this worthwhile if there isn't a good experience shop locally dealing with the harness of swapping a JDM/USDM EJ20?

Ultimately I want to keep the displacement but it seems that the EJ257 shortblock can be had cheaply, and the shortblock should have next to none electronics on it. The labour would still be great, but it's more mechanical which should requires less expertise than mucking with the harness. Is this a viable route compared to swapping a whole engine with different harness, or bolting on a turbo kit to the EJ251 high compression et al? I'm pretty much in strictly planning stage but I know I wanted turbo, and I have no access to a shop locally that have shown me confidence in letting them swapping a EJ20 at a decent price.

Thanks.
