As for young drives with brand new, expensive cars I think Thomas Paine said it best, "That which we obtain too easily, we esteem too lightly. It is dearness only which gives everything its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price on its goods."

Oh yeah, my first car was a 1981 Pontiac Firebird... 3.8 litre for all you GM guys out there. If I didn't change the oil every 1000 miles it would get so diluted with gas from blow-by and cylinder washdown I'd have no oil pressure at idle. Michigan winters took it toll dearly as I had to section in a new rear sub-frame to give the front leaf spring pirch someplace to bolt to.

You're right, a LeBaron is not that kick ass, but in high school I just thought it was pretty amazing that one of my friends had a convertable...then even more amazing when he crashed it and got a new Jeep Grand Cherokee...
