please answer these questions
#1.) what tire are you offering for review 225/50 16 Yokahama AVS 100 VS. 215/55 16 Kumho Ecsta 712 #2.) what is your geographic location FL and MA #3.) what types of driving events if any (i.e. track, AutoX, RallyX) AutoX #4.) percent of highway vs. city driving 25% hwy, 5% city, 70% country road #5.) your review and personal comments The Yoks are MUCH quieter and have better turn in, and are overall better for daily driving. They do not grab at every groove in road, and perfor. Only O.K. in rain. They took very little to balance and appear to be higher n quality. There appears to be a soft section in sidewall, and a stiffer section = very quiet. The Kumho are a bit noisy. They are nearly identical in size to the Yoks when mounted on 7" rim. Both tires are taller than stock, but .375 shorter than 205/60 snow tires. They are very sticky, noisy, and grab at nearly every inperfection in road. Very good in Rain. G-tech a little more grip than Yoks, but not even close to an R compound BFG G-force. Wear just as well as Yoks, but don't look as cool. Took too much weigh to balance on stock and aftermarket rim, noticable seam in construction. The Yoks are my #1 choice for road and fast street on a budget, and are only a couple bucks more than Kumho. My wife doesn't mind driving the WRX now! Much easier to live with = performance. Both tires = a big improvement than stock. Both require a bit more pressure and neg camber to get even temps/wear. Sidewalls are not at the level of max perf tires or r-compound rubber. |
