Angry Seatbelt squeaks as you pull to fasten it

Just checking in to see if anyone else has this annoying problem. Everytime I pull the seatbelt to fasten it, it squeals/squeaks/whistles really loud...and since it's right next to the ear, it compounds the annoying factor. I'm pretty sure that it has to do with the seatbelt rubbing against the plastic guide it slides through and the obvious solution would be to oil it. But that would result in your clothes becoming stained and such.

I've lived with it for thousands of miles now and just seeing if others are just living with it or have found some kind of miracle fix

The fix can be found here (or scroll down to Post #50):

Blah - this is kind of bittersweet I guess. It's good that others have the problem, but it stinks that we all have to hear/endure it. Only fix for me is to pull it like granny pace

Really not a biggie I guess to spend maybe one extra second to pull it slower, but it does get annoying when you do it fast and that noise is there to remind you to pull it slower

Im not sure if this is the same problem, but I told my dealer abt the squeaky sound while pulling the seatbelt...and they ordered a new seatbelt - it was covered under warranty, so its just the hassle of getting it done. The seatbelt was installed w/ the recall of the left seat rail bolt.

My driver side belt does the same thing in my 04 but only if I pull it really fast. Not that annoying. But I have noticed that the door handle does get scratched easily.

I have the same problem, it is annoying, but whatever, if I have to lose out on something, might as well be this.

Same thing here...But it only started doing this after ~13K (17K now). It's definitely the plastic guide thingy....
Now that we all agree that it's poor design, what can be done about it?

They'd probably charge an arm and a leg to fix it (if there is indeed a fix) as mine is out of the 36K BTB Warranty...

My drivers side does it as well. I am very happy considering this is my only problem after 15 months and 15K miles.

Both front's do it on my 04, but only when it's warm outside. It never does it in the garage, but as soon as the interior heats up the seatbelts squeek. Tres annoying, but I hate to leave it at the dealer for this. I'll have it addressed at the 30k mile service.

The recall only affects 02'-03' models so your 04' model is ok I believe. Plus, you would've received a letter from SOA

Here's a thread on it if you're interested in some reading:

My passenger belt makes that noise, and I'd just live with it, but needless to say, my passengers don't know to pull slowly. I need to get the bolt recall, maybe I'll take care of the belt as well.
