Cusco Front Strut Bar for WRX
Can't say much about the drivability may be because either I've not driven it hard enough at all or the car itself, along with the lower front arm bar is tight enough. Or, may be because the strut/spring, tire/rim is still stock, they would give before the chassis does.
Price: Bought from Bottle, $160. Actually the invoice says $155, but I got charged $160 from the credit card.
Quality: It's a Cusco, need I say more - top notch!
Installation: a little harder than I originally thought. The most time consuming part was to install the supplied black "S" bracket for relocating the AC line. The bar I got is a different bar from Mofuga's (sp?) web site's, it is flat all the way to the blue strut tower mounting brackets. I didn't use, nor the geometry of the bar would allow (I believe) Mofuga's method, putting the bar below the AC line. I had to readjust the AC line like 2 inches lower and relocate the mounting brkt on the firewall. The instruction isn't straight forward, I just used what I've on hand.
I prefer this method, the bar is visible instead of covered by the AC lines.
Tip 1- if you have the factory alarm, there is the 3rd horn there mounted on the right strut tower. I relocated that as well. I took the mount out of the horn, and mounted the horn on the cruise control module top mounting screw. Perfect.
Tip 2 - Torque the bolts down no more that 14ft-lb (to be safe). My small torque wrench is in in-lbs, therefore I torqued the bolts down with star patten (tightening each screw a little bit at a time) to 155INCH - lbs. I ran back and forth from the left side to the right to tighten each bolt little bit at a time. I want to be as careful as I could with those studs. I crench ever time I make a turn on the nuts. Oh yeah, make sure you loosen the allen screws on the bar so that you have the flexibility for the installation.
Tip 3 - I used locktite, for whatever it's worth.
