On my old '95 Nissan 240SX I had GAB struts and Eibach Pro-Kit springs. The GAB's were fantastic. Lots of travel and a very noticeable range of adjustment. The fronts were 4 clicks from Soft to Hard & the rears were 8 clicks from Soft to Hard.
My friend purchase Tokico Illuminas for his Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. He set his suspension to Full Stiff all the way around and it felt just like riding in my car when I was only on 3/5 front/rear settings. Also the GAB struts had a much better range of adjustment vs the KYB AGX struts/shocks as well. What I would think though is that GAB technology is probably what was used in designing the D Specs which seem to be one of the best struts for our cars right now with a large range of versatility. I would absolutely buy GAB products again after that car. However, it doesn't seem like they are in business any more (or at least I haven't seen anything about them in some time now). Now I know my experience was with a different car and a spring/strut vs coilover setup, but I was definitely pleased. That being said .... what you are looking at would concern me as to just how much life is actually left in those as it says there are 108,000 KM (or about 67,000 miles) on the car, but not sure if that means on that coilover setup or not. So not sure how long they will last. Also not sure how to go about doing the maintenance on those as I don't know of any GAB dealers any more (especially if they are not still in business) so I am not sure who you would go to or how maintenance would even be done on those. The flip side to that is they are only $150 for the set. |
