I am heading to Taipei (for the 2nd time) in 10hrs time... I tried searching but couldn't find any substantial info on the car scene in Taipei.
I am going to visit Yellow Hat (Neihu branch), but I read that it's pretty much like Autobacs and the prices are similar. Any cool places that sell car accessories or performance parts in or near Taipei? Stickers and all that would be cool too. Especially if they are Scooby related. Is there any Subaru dealership there? I'd love to see the 'underground' scene as well, if there are any places where lotsa modified cars hang out or some famous garage. I know some of the taxis are super modified (I sat one with strut and chassis bars in the car and using a Nardi steering wheel); would they be able to guide me to some interesting places? Thanks in advance!

Try the international forums, they'd be more help there than in the general forums.

Taipei has lots of car scenes, but I'm not sure where they hang out. There are lots more people who mod their mopeds/scooters to do crazy stuff.
The hot car in Taiwan is not the Impreza, it is the Focus 2.0. Try SRR for that, the driver is crazy, doesn't speak English. |

You go to Taiwan for the awesome food. Car scene isn't as hot as the climate or humidity.

Thanks guys for the replies
![]() From the airport to Taipei City, I only saw ONE scooby at Shilin Night Market, and it was a Forester. The cars here are mostly Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans... saw some Mazda 3s and a couple of Suzuki Swifts too. Other makes seen include Lexus, BMW and Mercedes and a single Porsche Cayenne. I checked up Subaru of Taiwan (Thanks for the address MY99) and apparently scoobies are pretty new here and sell about 300 units a year only. Anyway, the Subaru of Taiwan (SOT) has been taken over by MotorImage, which is the same agent here in Singapore. That kinda makes me less interested to visit it as I don't think it will be drastically different from the dealership here, except maybe different prices. I'll see if I can drop by. I'm looking out to snap pics of souped up Imprezas especially, but no luck so far. |

SOT was closed due to typhoon season in Taiwan but I managed to go to Yellow Hat :-
![]() BC Coilovers anyone? ![]() How about some Taiwanese rims? ![]() It's like Autobacs and the prices are slightly cheaper than my local stores. I saw an Autobacs while on the cab Yellow Hat, but it wasn't walking distance so I didn't drop by. I also saw another Taiwanese local auto store, Richahaus, when I was taking the train. I didn't stop over though. Ended up just buying some bulbs, brackets and a drink. haha |
