Default oval shaped bubble in rear view

Hello all!

I have a 2002 Impreza WRX and after leaving it at my parents' for the week I found that my rear view mirror now has an oval shaped bubble that seems to be symmetrical, near the top. My mirror does have the auto-dimming feature and compass, could one of these have failed and caused this?

Pics are attached, and thanks:

Mine looked like that when I got it last year and the autodim feature did not work. My guess is that the autodim is broken. I replaced mine with a used one and now it works and looks perfect.

Mine did that, I think from getting too hot in the summer a couple of years ago. I got a used one to replace it.
