Default Clearcoat on a brand new 09 OBS?

I've been reading all of the horror stories with the 2008 Impreza Paint Chipping issue..

Well, i just bought a 2009 Impreza OBS, in Obsidian Black, and am now trying to figure out ways to protect my new baby! So i am gonna get some rally armor mud flaps, but want to do as much to protect the entire body as possible considering that i've heard that Subaru paint jobs are not exactly the most robust.

So i have been considering getting a thick clearcoat put on the car while it is still pristine (~200 miles on it right now) so that it will have maximum protection for as long as possible. Additionally, a friend recommended putting a clear acrylic (bra/coat/adhesive?) covering on the front.

Let me know what you people think about it...

thanks!

Thumbs up

Get a 3M film Clear Bra put on, i just got mine installed there last week. I don't think I went a few weeks after getting the car and there was a nick on the hood already before that.

Yes my 08 impreza has many chips 12k miles later. I hate the look of the 'bra', I prefer to just apply a dot of touchup paint. I do have one extremely deep chip that isn't that easy to take care of though

what about a hood bug deflector in addition to the 3M acrylic bra? Do you think that would save my hood from a little bit of damage?

Sure it would. Just personal preference for that and I've seen so many broken up over time from misc things.
