Default I've a lot of cars, but this one is easily my fav! **Newbie**

Hi everyone!

My name is Jon and I live and work in Brantford. I'm a 28 year old married to my high school sweet heart and father of two great kids.

I have been and automobile nut since I could crawl and have owned many cars (25 to be exact) everything from swapped Honda's, turbo'd/swapped VW's to a couple of RX-7 Turbos. I have always involved myself in the auto industry from working as a tool mechanic, owning my own parts wholesale company to my current position as a Service Advisor at Brantford Honda.

Recently I was looking for a new car and wanted something different than what I'm used too. I have always liked and enjoyed watching Subaru dominate WRC for years and driving my buddies modded WRX back in 2003 had me itching for one since... Fast forward to this month; one of our Parts guys bought a bug eye WRX which reminded me of how cool they are so that afternoon I spent some time on TSC and Kijiji and found a beautiful and well kept 99 RS 2.5 which I wasted no time to buy as I got it from a fellow member for a song (thanks greasy rocker).

My plans are big and ambitious to say the least (WRX/Conversion, Suspension, Brakes) and show some of my fellow HADA memebers what 4WD can do!

I'm looking forward to meet some of you and I'm always up for a coffee! And if you happen to have a Honda in your driveway as well I can help you out with your service/parts needs.

Get wrx engine if you want to but please get an STi 6 speed. Sooo much more fun with it.

Haha No I was there... I was the lucky guy who won the Q-Rack! STi boxes are amazing. What rear diff would you recommend?

I second this opinion. Not only will the shorter gears be fun, but the STi tranny can take a beating. The WRX tranny is too weak in my opinion. If you drive really aggressive you might have some problems.

Nice car by the way! I had a 2000 RS, and just a few months ago I bought a 2002 WRX...and there are times when I wish I kept my RS because it was just a fun car to drive. Congradulations.

An (R180) STI diff will be required although, if you get 04 STI driveshaft/02-07 WRX wagon driveshaft and a (R160) rear diff out of a WRX, the six speed STI box can be compatible...

Turbo swap of some sort, decent track suspension, and definitely USDM/JDM Front bumper! Damn Canadian model RS with their L-Bumpers

Good to know! Yeah for the time being I was going to run turbo motor on stock RS 5spd and diff until I could afford the STi 6 spd.

Welcome! That is one great looking car. Takes a lot to make me jealous, but that RS is sexy as hell!

Good luck and keep us all posted. Welcome to the family!

Looking at either JDM Ver4 STi (I know spun bearings are an issue which is debatable depending who you talk to, but I can get them cheap) or USDM 02/03 WRX and EJ257 is out of my budget at this point. Heck I can even get a Ver2 STi engine complete right now for $800.

I have to say, even stock, your 2.5 looks amazing. It reminds me of how much I want a 22b.
